It's a mode of transport, helping people get from A to B and the more people using them means less people in cars which means less traffic congestion.

Not sure why anyone would pass judgement on adults using them to be honest.

Can't say in public for legal reasons.

My first thought would be to wonder why anyone would give a toss about what mode of transport someone else uses to get to work or college.

My second thought would be to wonder why many in the media just love to report on injuries involving escooter users, when they'd never bother their arse reporting on the same injuries arising from a car crash.

Depends what part of the country you are in.

They are illegal in Northern Ireland.

Should be made legal and carry insurance. Great way for getting from A to B

They aren't legal up here. To make them legal they have to be registered as a road vehicle and tax and insurance paid and fitted with a reg plate.

somewhere

I walk my dogs late at night and there's two types of e-scooter users

The ones dressed in black ...no lights...standing up very tall ...come flying up the road and head off into the distance as silent as a ninja

Frightens the crap out of me and the dogs

Then there's the one's lit up like the Coca Cola christmas truck

I can understand why they're so popular

Lots of people can't afford to run a car and buses dont go everywhere

Agreed. They are perfectly practical for lots of reasons.

But I have seen people use them on paths and one nearly knocked over an elderly lady, and the ones that travel on roads without lights/hi-vis are a danger also.

I use them everytime i'm in Berlin during the day, great way to get around the City using the various Apps, but that City is well catered for them. Here there seems to be a complete lack of discipline using them, and i see many near misses daily. I think users should have to complete some sort of theory test/practical exam on road use for them.

I think they're people choosing a smart, affordable option to get from A to B which cuts down on traffic - and ergo congestion and emissions 🤷

I've just come back from Nottingham and scooter hire is a really popular option for students. When I was in Brussels last year, it also seemed to be a well used mode of transport.

I don't use a scooter but can see the many benefits - beat the traffic, lower your emissions, and Jaffa won't go near you 👍

As someone who does a lot of driving all over the country. I see lots using them. Some people use them properly but quite a few are a danger to themselves and other road users. Try driving down the canal from Dolphins Barn to Grand Canal Street in Dublin at night. It's scary as most of them are not wearing any hi viz, have no lights or anything. I do know one driver who hit one lad, broke the headlamp on van. The scooter lad jumped up and ran off. When driver reported it to Gardai, they laughed and reckoned he must have either been coming from robbing or had drugs on him.

They are a nuisance, never wear high vis , up and down paths without looking. I’ve nearly hit the same fucker three or four times today alone, but he always gets to safety first
