somewhere

A bag of chips, the most basic of takeaways

Crispy and hot with salt

Drive home trying not to open the bag ...sometimes leaving the bag in the boot of the car to avoid temptation

A chip sandwich with Heinz ketchup, aromat and a cup of tea...nothing fancy but very fulfilling

How do you like yours

Just heading to the chipper now

Salt

And maybe some mayonnaise

Straight from the paper

When people get chips for me they always put vinegar on or even worse, ketchup and ruin them.

Usually from a takeaway I’d go with salt and vinegar but if I’ve the option I’d go with some loaded fries. Nom-nom

They have to be proper chips, made on the premises and not frozen, with salt and vinegar only.

Only time I put ketchup or anything else on chips is if they are those stupid skinny fries or tasteless.

Chip butties are good but again no sauce.

Straight from the bag, no salt or very little. More vinegar added when home along with black pepper. Maybe a side of coleslaw. Cut or 2 of batch bread with real butter.

In my humble opinion chips should be the chunky homemade type not frozen things and they should be swimming in vinegar.

The sticks

Our local chipper is crap and about 3.50 for a half filled bag......I remember the days when it was 50p for small bag and 70p for a large bag.

Either way has to have salt and vinegar, when the fumes from the vinegar just hit your senses when you open the bag is bloody amazing.

I do prefer chips in paper like Burdock's do them

I love proper home style chips. Big chunky ones with salt..no vinegar. A choice of ketchup, mayonnaise and garlic... a girl can never chose just one..

But I'll fight you for the crispy ones at the end... like mini chips but oh so delish...

Fair play Bog Man - opened a huge can of worms with this one.!

I have recently started trying good chippy chips and will season them with peri peri salt, likkle bit of a kick. If it's full on, like before the rugby today I suspect, I will be making fully loaded home-made taco fries... Sweet baby jesus I'm nearly having a moment...

Not sure of the top of my head but I saw a few people in the lounge complaining about a fish supper costing them £10.50 and how it was daylight robbery.

I haven't paid £10.50 in a few years. A fish supper round here is between £11.50 and £12.75 for takeaway and probably lot more to sit in.

I was in Spain a couple of years ago and we found an 'English' fish and chip shop.

€13 for a fish and chips, but we were at the beach and really fancied it.

We were served Aldi frozen chips and Aldi battered fish.

The disappointment was real.

But in true Irish style, when we were asked how it was, of course we replied with, lovely, thank you very much
