One message limit

I posted this on my status earlier and got alot of positive replies from female profiles..

I think when a female joins fab there should be a one message limit that she can recieve from other profiles until she replies to the first message...

So many females leave an hour after joining because they are getting inundated with hundreds of messages but 10 of them could be from the same fella.!!

What are people's thoughts on this and is it possible to get it done here...

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun

Even if it was just one message per profile, it would still be an an avalanche of messages.

I’d be interested to see if the 100s of messages a new profile receives, how many are multiple from the same profile

Women should join as single men in order to get a few for the site first

Seriously though, it’s a good idea. Even if you block by age, photos etc it’ll still be an avalanche. Another filter to stop people from the other end of the country from messaging you would be good too

Very few send repeat messages within first hours. Most are just random dick pics from people who are already blocked by longer term users.

Women also usually prefer the word "female" to be used as an adjective (i.e. female half, female profile etc.) Instead of a noun (i.e. female reads messages; female joins fab etc.)

Think it's a great idea OP ....when I first joined I felt so bombarded in the first day or 2 I actually left for a few weeks before venturing back again ....it's definitely very over whelming at times and yes the multiple messages/dick pics from some members doesn't help

I don't think I had - or ever have had - multiple messages from the same person in a short space of time.

Maybe there should be a thirst limit imposed on blokes

There have been lots of comments on here complaining about women showing as being online but as soon as you send them a message they go offline.

There are obviously certain men who live in hope of having their message read because they believe they timed it to perfection when they saw someone online.

There are also those who deliberately target new profiles as soon as they join because they think they will have better luck that way.

A one message limit won't prevent all those guys from sending their opening message and the new arrivals will still have 100+ messages.

Whether it's a one message limit or not wouldn't affect those (men) who are outside of such 'transgressions'. It's all academic: 90% of all my interactions - specifically dates and socials - have been from women instigating the conversation in the first instance.

If I send someone 5 messages, does that come up as 5 or is it one with 5 messages in it? I think it changed a year or so ago…

1 message with 5 in it. The number of messages within an individual message thread show on the right of the inbox

Personally I only sent 1 message, if I’m lucky enough to get a response, I’ll chat for a few messages, if I don’t get a reply, I’ll leave the person alone, maybe I’m wrong, but I’ll always respect a person’s decision not to reply.

Wow, a lot of men here deciding how the ladies accounts should be managed. I think we're big enough to sift, block and delete.

Maybe you could protect us from the real world too? Cagney.

It's only faux concern...what they're actually concerned about is getting their own messages seen

Sure why not, men have been joining as females and couples for years now!!! More fake accounts iis just what's needed

I think if you send a message and it’s unread you shouldn’t be able to send another one within 24hours at least.

My single account gets messages from some guys where they literally bombard me with messages over and over in a couple of mins. They rapidly go to the block list.

I disagree, but because I find it a really, really useful red flag and helps me filter out (some) of the nutters easily. It’s actually my number one piece of advice to any girls who join; just do nothing for 24 hours, and then mass-delete the multiple messagers. No by the time you’ve deleted the penis-for-profile-pic, the ‘hi hru’, ‘fancy a chat?’, and ‘can I ask you a question’, I think you can get the inbox to a slightly manageable level 😂

The last time I set up a couples account I did this and there were two coherent messages left out of 200. Only a small number sent persistent multiple messages in short succession. There were tens of messages before even a photo was uploaded.

Most of the guys I know with some experience on fab wouldn't message a new account anyway.

Many. I have had a few guys message me 20+ times in one day with no reply from me. Some of the conversations they had with themselves were funny

It's amazing that lads will message a new profile with no photos, info or verifications and want to meet.

And assume its a genuine account

I mean, it's not exactly a worse scenario than messaging an old profile with everything. It doesn't really change much. In a way, you could say men are so desperate that they don't care for pictures or verifications, in another, you could say that men are willing to look past it. The first is far more likely but one can dream.

the ‘hi hru’, ‘fancy a chat?’, and ‘can I ask you a question’,

Is it my age but what is wrong with the above introduction messages .

What is though appropriate or an acceptable good first message .

There would be nothing wrong if you got one message like that every few days but the reality is it's several, every day. People are too busy for that.

Some would say those messages are "dry". There is no all round decent opener. Might sound soppy but just be yourself. There is no sexual partner worth changing yourself for.

Just ask the damn question. No need to ask if you can ask 🤣

Same as "can we chat?" On the rare occasion I've replied with "sure, what about?", I'm usually asked what would I like to chat about Errrr you asked me buddy and I assumed you had a topic to bring to the table 🤯

I meant to add that there's no definitive one-size-fits-all answer to your last question but at least include a hook and give the recipient something to work with, and try to show even a wee bit of personality
