To my fellow tatted fabbers , tell me of any tattoo fails or regrets you have

I wanted to get my name in Chinese writing (cool thing to do at the time ) but as my name is Irish , there wasn’t a translated version for the tattooist to use so I decided to get a different name that sounded similar to mine done instead .

Moral of the story …. I have a different girls name tattooed on me .. in Chinese 🥴🥴🥴🤣

I have heard stories of people doing similar with Japanese. But they want it in hiragana, which is purposefully for Japanese words. You can use phonetics to sound it out but it’s means something completely different in Japanese. Someone got diarrhea tattooed on them.

Oh god I still cringe over it.

It was back in 2000, I was 19 and listening to nothing but Roots Reggae and Dub while smoking copious amounts of hash every day.

I thought of myself as an honorary Rastafarian, so I figured the best tattoo that expressed my personality was a leaf on my chest in the Rastafarian colours of Green, Yellow and Red.

Luckily it was small so I got it covered up easy enough after a few months.

II got a free tattoo from an apprentice, an Odin's compass.

The guy went too deep in the skin, the whole tattoo is scarred on my arm.

A while later I got offered another free tattoo from a different apprentice, I asked her to cover the compass, she started doing a skull, didn't finish it, quit the studio and now I have a half skull/half black stain with a 3D compass scarred in it 😅😂

I added to my original tattoo in 2019 and it wasn't completed because the tattooist had a bad back and couldn't sit any longer.

The plan was to go back but I changed jobs and never had the time.

He went out of business during COVID so I thought about going somewhere else but haven't had the time or the money to do it so it's still on the to-do list.
