Hi all, looking for some advice, what are people's thoughts on age gaps? What's the maximum age difference you would allow between yourself and a fwb/partner?ive recently been messaged by a young lady who is only 20,and she wants to meet, I'm 42. I'm flattered but it feels a bit creepy. Any couple out there with similar age differences? Thanks

Age gaps, thigh gaps... It's all good!

In one week in 2013, marked on my calendar as the peak of existence, I met a lady who was 25 years older than me on the Tuesday and a lady who was 25 years older than me on the Friday, both having lied about their ages, and both absolutely delightful in every way.

It's all about the emotional maturity as far as I'm concerned and age is no guarantor of that.

When it comes to Fab, we prefer approximately same age or older.

In my opinion, I would thread very carefully with a younger person. Especially that young. A different generation do things differently. V

If you are to meet, do so in a very social setting first and strictly a social!

Oh I’m gonna get it in the neck for this but, when I was in my twenties, men in their forties to me were relics 😂 I found it creepy in pubs and clubs when they would hit on me. But I get the attraction for men- younger tighter “bodies” in a lot of cases, inexperienced and less used etc- But it gives me the hibbygibies- it’s like looking at the old men and young women in Thailand. But then the hilarity is that I don’t see any issue with women in their forties with men in their twenties or women in their forties with men in their sixties😂 anyhow, my opinion on this counts for nothing, it’s your decision…. Not my business- only answering because you asked.

I think it depends on the person very much. A 45 year old bloke can be less mature than a 30 year old I've found...

You can generally tell from the messages and behaviour when you meet. I'd say it's the same for the ladies but maybe less of an issue maybe?

I've zero interest in anyone even close to my daughters ages so I keep my age filters 10 years above that and increase it every year.

I've never been with a woman older than me at any time of my life so the upper age filter is irrelevant 😁

Ideally, around same age, say +-5 years. But it's really a case by case thing, we don't really think much about age if we like people. So we have an age range listed, but it's not used to filter out messages for example.

On the lower end though, we do have a bit of a mental block with under 30s, and under 25 gets into complete feels-wrong territory.

First because it feels a bit predatory on our end. We know ourselves, we're confident in who we are, who we love and what we like, but they're still young, exploring, and prone to mistakes and regrets. We'd hate to push them into the latter. They deserve better.

And then, that's the age range that gets into uncomfortable territory where people could be part of our kids social circles. If we could avoid the "oh, btw, I slept with your parents last week!", that'd be nice...

Half your age + 7 years seems to be a recognised formula for calculating acceptable maximum age difference in relationships.

The "older than my kids" thing never bothers me as my adult children are the last thing I would be thinking of in a fab meet situation.

But to each their own....

Dude if someone wants meet and you want to meet, then meet!

Just beware of fakes and act accordingly to verify they exist before you invest time or money.

And consider that a young woman might lie about her age. If you feel like you need to ask her for ID, probably best to trust your gut and walk away.

I could never be naked with someone my kids age. It just feels so wrong for me personally. I also find the more mature man, in my eyes 54+ to be more on the same vave length in life experiences as myself and feel more comfortable in their company.

As I get older, this rises each year by 1 but the older age range can't rise much higher 🤣😂

Wouldn't consider anyone near my kids age for a start. Was with woman nearly 30 years older than me when I was in my early twenties ( holiday fling). I'd be suspicious though of anyone in their 20s these days. Just be wary OP.

As I've kids I'd never go below 28/30. 20yo just feels wrong for me to interact with. Plus, they're like energiser bunnies - fast and too quick. I'd also have no idea what to talk to them about

On the upper limit, I'd rarely go above my age - mostly because of muscular/defined bodies being less common on men around/above my age.

Definitely a social meet before getting down to business.

It was with someone 25 years younger than me, two years ago. The meet was arranged almost four months in advance, having chatted for many months beforehand with no expectations. All that time spent thinking long and hard about my moral compass, soul-searching, receiving counsel, advice and reassurance from my close Fab friends who gave me a balanced view to settle my butterflies.

I was mindful about the age gap and wasn't going to be cavalier in my approach to sleeping with someone so relatively 'young'. However, her general outlook on life, maturity and sensibilities totally offset my concerns around the issue of age.

I always apply due diligence when it comes to meeting someone. I don't think I've ever applied so much in this case. This was unprecedented.

I have no regrets; only wonderful memories that will linger and endure.
