Portlaoise

Not much tbh, there's a few fabbers around Laois. Portarlington is a relatively quiet town, Most of the younger ones go to Tullamore or Portlaoise to night clubs....Good golf course there and a great Chinese up on the main street. Enjoy your trip.

It's a small bog town that is in both laois and Offaly, very close to Kildare too.

I'm sure you will find fun if you're looking for it.

As for nightlife I couldn't tell you, it used to be fun but can be clannish.

To be honest portlaoise became very quiet town. There is only one club where everyone go after midnight (Mixer) and there is more kids than adults. For me is better to go to Naas or Dublin. I don't know how about Tulamore...

Tullamore is fairly popular with fibbers but no dedicated nite club. Just the Bridge House Hotel
