How do you expect to talk to [your preferred gender] in that case?

Surely you meet people in the vanilla world on the regular & presumably you don't have any issues talking with them, right?

A social is no different, really. Don't go in with any expectations other than to have a good time, to be yourself and talk to others who are very likely looking for the same things you are.

I've been to a few socials and have only ever had a good time. Relax and don't take yourself too seriously.

Vanilla world is different as its comfort in our own surroundings I guess! Probably am just over thinking it

I used to think that way too. I attend socials on my own and there have been occasions where I've known no-one else there. You may think ah but it's different for a single woman but my experience is that's not the case, we're not that dissimilar with being a little anxious about going. I've found the majority to be friendly and welcoming whatever your gender or sexuality.

Don't let not knowing anyone keep you away from a social. As for nerves, I still get them, but honestly that's mostly a good energy or excitement that I'm feeling.

Try a coffee meet social or a small gathering in a bar. Set a goal like staying for an hour at least, and introduce yourself to 3 people. You'll probably find that you'll easily pass a couple of hours and will chat to a good few. You may even find yourself having a fantastic time. Make an effort and push yourself out of your comfort zone and think to yourself what have I got to lose?
