I often enough see updates about "we are staying a hotel, want a so and so". I assume the success rate for a single guy asking for a last-minute meet is close to 0%. What's it like for couples and women? If you know guys are willing to meet last-minute, are you more inclined to put up late posts?

With the ratio of men to women here. You would get plenty of men jumping at the chance to have a meet.

I think there is 300+ men online now to 74 women online. The odds are definitely in a woman's favour, now I know that would include gay men and plenty of men that aren't your cup of tea.

Never posted a status about us having a hotel room nor ever post a status inviting any strangers to bed.

But.... from my single days and from about 6 years ago since we became a couple now and then we would post a status up if people would like to join us for a drink or a coffee.

When I was single and I would find myself at a loose end and post a status up that I'm free for a coffee or a pint, I would have got a slight influx of men (max 4-5) offering to meet me next week or month 🙄, getting offended that I'm not offering a BJ in a local Costa and maybe one of them would have said yeah okay, then vanish into the oblivion he came from...

As a couple over the years now and then we would post this status up. In 6 years only a handful of men ever showed up for a social drink after swearing up and down how they really really really want to meet us. Usually it's people who we are already friends with that do take up those offers which we aren't complaining about.

TLDR: strangers aren't much use for these kinds of status updates.

Better to spend time on the scene getting to know people and build a circle who will show up.

Years ago I was in an hotel down the country and got a message from a couple saying I had showed up on their who's near and it looked as though we could be in the same hotel. They asked if I would go to their room and gave me the number 404.

I thought it was strange because I didn't have who's near turned on, the hotel I was in didn't have 4 floors and room numbers only went up to the 200s.

The first, last and middle lines of their profile were written in capital letters saying they didn't meet single men ever and would block any who got in touch without exception.

I replied with all that info and got told not to worry because not everyone was a waster like me.

Do people actually respond to last minute meet requests from complete strangers they've never even spoken to before?

It might sound great in theory but there are lots of other considerations.
