Belfast

A BBC reporter randomly dropped 10 wallets around Belfast containing cash and a phone number to call if found.

All 10 were returned to him exactly as he had left them which makes a mockery of the belief that city centres are dangerous and full of low lifes.

With all the nastiness and finger pointing going on across the country there is still so much kindness and goodness out there and genuinely honest people.

That often gets lost among the rage.

I like to believe that people are inherently good and kind and that it is only a very small minority that cause problems.

Maybe I'm nieve but I like to try and see the best in people.

I like to try see the best in people and behave accordingly. Then sometimes people say something has happened to them and I think, wow I'd never even thought of it being a possibility because I'd never have acted that way myself.

There's still humanity left ❤️

I always try to see the best, even though I was proven wrong so many times 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

When it comes to take off my clothes off I think twice 😜

Belfast is a beautiful place and I think we have the most amazing people here, yes at times a select few do bring bad media but again that's all the media like to share, I didn't see this story in the news so again if the wallets weren't returned do you think this would reached the news to highlight the negative side of the story?

Love to hear others thoughts.

While I like to think we are all good people. You can't deny that there are some evil motherfuckers out there aswell.

10 wallets returned in Belfast is great, but the " dangerous " city mentioned was dublin not Belfast.

Surely the point that RB is making is that, amidst all the bad press there are still decent people doing decent things every day? It just gets lost in the noise.

Why is the OP a clown? He's simply reporting something he's read (news article?) and just posting it here. 🤔

I love Belfast. Think it’s a lot safer than most towns I know. I’ve done 4 socials in Belfast within the pass year a I can say I never any worries walking to or from where these socials were.

As always in threads like these you can see who prefers the noise and the chaos.

I'm not surprised at all. Human beings are kind and good in general. The perpetrators of evil acts are nearly always victims of trauma because these things are unnatural to us. We are a social species and our natural instincts are to want to help others.

Right few points. Time of day they where dropped, area they where dropped, adding a phone number to the wallet, people would automatically ring the number, if no phone number was included, id say the return rate would drop , depending on how close to the local cop shop or bank branch in a atm card was in the wallet

Belfast

It's part of a World Happiness study and used to measure people's expectations versus reality when it comes to the kindness of strangers.

Believing in the kindness of strangers has a significant impact on happiness and how people feel about where they live.

Happiness or lack of can influence how politically polarised a country is and whether or not people choose to vote against the system.

The fact that something so small but positive can't even be accepted by some on this thread without dissecting it and being cynical about it just sums up how easily influenced they can be by mass hysteria and the Chicken Little approach to life.
