High Five Friday

I was driving to work this morning, and i was just having a hard time. Felt in a bit of a slump. It brought up memories of people from my past , and we will all know someone that's hit a wall they couldn't get over and that brought them to the decision to end their lives. Unfortunately, they never spoke out about it to anyone, and people ignored the signs.

In some cases, all it takes is a simple hello or a fist bump just to change a person's mind and get them out of a slump. I hate to be a bit of a downer first thing on a Friday morning, but I think we should introduce High Five Friday. Just a fun small gesture to put an extra smile on people's faces of a Friday but also bring a bit of joy to those people that believe they are nearing rock bottom in their minds.

Happy High Five Friday folks

Minutes from Somewhere Else

✋!

I do love a good high five. Can feel it in your soul!

Mental health still carries with it something of a stigma, unfortunately. That's changing, but slowly.

I'm quite open about the fact that I'm currently seeing a therapist on a regular basis & have been to therapy in the past. It's been hugely beneficial to my life.

It's been my experience that men are very closed off to the idea of going to therapy or confronting their emotions. I blame social conditioning and dumbass machismo. It takes strength and courage to admit you need help and then to actually go out and find it.

My hope is that my transparency encourages others who might otherwise not have gone to take that step. They might not feel comfortable with their first therapist - and it's okay to switch to someone you do feel more comfortable with - but the important thing is to take active steps towards improving mental health and emotional well-being.

Sometimes it's okay to put yourself first.

Happy High Five Friday!

Mental health is a taboo with men. They dont want to talk about it but times are changing. I too am seeking thearpy and have done for the last few years. Its the best thing i ever did and it made me realise theres so many people out there like myself. I used to always think why me but not anymore. I realise so many people have that same thought and the reality is they are not alone.

Thats why i decided to make this post. Not to bring doom and gloom but to bring awareness and make people remember. A small gesture can seem stupid to some but mean the world to others. Say hello to others. Give people a fist bump, give people that high five and put a smile on someones face

Good morning and well done to yous that made it to this morning. Super proud of yous. I’m very open about my pass. I was fucked but here I am today loving life . So anyone struggling. You’re not alone and if you learn to love and respect yourself there is hope. For anyone that knows someone that is struggling please think about giving hugs.A 8 second hug to a man releases dopamine in the brain, which gives him the feeling of connection and belonging. Also a 8 minute conversation can help someone to stop feeling lonely. So if you are struggling or know someone struggling try to have that 8 minute conversation. Could be over the phone or a coffee. Personally I go into work early to grab a coffee with a few of the lads in work. I won’t send out a high five to yous but I’m sending out a big 8 second man hug to yous and I promise you, you are not alone.
