Two rapists agreeing with each other that immigrants are bad.

Imagine:

I heard today, it's the beginning of his run for presidency in Ireland. I laughed, then I remembered I laughed at the thought of Fianna Fail and Fine Gael getting re-elected... Jesus Christ. A nation of immigrants, spread the world over being so rasist , it hurts my tortured soul, it isn't the people, it's the way it's been ran, total gobshite virtuous for the sake of virtuous, and now we have right wing pricks coming in to clean up on the fear of the masses that read the shite that's spewed out to feed the narrative.

Two men with a lot of criminal convictions between them including r*ape trying to take over the world

One is a dangerous buffoon and the other is a addict

Mcgregor and his band of hanger ons live in a bubble of yes men so they think that they are the majority when in fact they aren't as can be seen by the election results

Most people think he's a prick

Last week when his name was called out by a band on stage in 3Arena most of the 13000 crowd booed him

I think he'll find it hard but not impossible to get onto the presidential ballot paper

There's enough right wing pricks in the Dail to start a campaign

He'll also get the vote out that never votes with his name alone

If you look at the overwhelming demographic of who are agreeing with his comments, they’re the same white men who will riot if there’s a rumour of a person of colour having committed a crime but support a scumbag who has been found liable for sexual assault.

Shockingly enough, I don’t give any weight to their opinions.

A meeting of two racist, misogynistic, sexual abusers who are a waste of oxygen. That’s all it was.

Unfortunately the discourse around this is overshadowing the murder of 400 Palestinians last night. That’s what we should be screaming about.

Here's a thought. An independent one

What if all those who think they're both insufferable scumbag cunts have the same independent thought 🤔

It's funny how this "no independent thought" trope gets trotted out time and time again by people too blinkered to realise that their own, usually opposing, opinion is also shared by others who - get this - are also prone to tossing out that same insult

Oh the irony!

A republic is a form of democracy where power rests with the people, but governance is conducted through elected representatives and laws that protect individual rights. Unlike a pure democracy, where the majority rules directly, a republic ensures that even the minority is protected from potential tyranny by the majority.

Valuing the individual is crucial because it upholds personal freedoms, innovation, and responsibility, preventing government overreach and ensuring a just society where everyone’s rights are respected, not just the will of the majority.

Now , this read from ONE perspective is very clear, but turn it and read it from ANOTHER.

I wish everything was black and white but it is not , we need to have a moral compass, and it can't be led by men with a weak one, (if my use of the word men triggers you , you are part of the problem)

McGregor is a pawn, and is being used as part of Trump strategy to denigrate the Irish Govt. A flash In the pan. His appearance was well orchestrated and must have been planned weeks ago. Micheal must feel upstaged. But maybe it's time to rethink our obsession with paddywhackery on 17 Mar, and forget about white house visits, fawning at the feet of someone like Trump. We as a country are obsessed with what people might think of us. We want to be nice to everyone.

"Two rapists agreeing with each other that immigrants are bad.

Imagine:

'I know he's a racist and a rapist but you know his stance on immigration might have something. Maybe we should listen.'

Maybe you should stop repeating bullshit, neither of them are convicted rapists. Virtue signalling is over, try having an independent thought. "

What would you like us to say…

Both men have been found in civil cases beyond a majority probability to have committed SA by a jury of their peers….

There …. Does that make you feel less squeamish?

Do you think a violent, misogynistic and racist drug addicted idiot who hangs around with known drug pushing gangsters should be allowed to claim to speak for the people of Ireland . A nation which has sent many millions more immigrants to the world than we could ever receive then you are no better than that idiot yourself. His claims that the government is useless but every politician claims that the sitting government is useless. It's possible to completely dislike McGregor and agree with his comments. Our own Taoiseach said last week that 80% of asylum applicants were disingenuous. Anybody who wants this abuse of our generosity fixed has absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

Thread was posted in relation to what Mc Gregor said while in the White House. I’d have no time whatsoever for mc g and what he’s been accused of but the thread is not about that. Is he right in what he said about the Irish government? That will cause debate but there is no harm in that.

That's my point exactly, the debate was taken in a different direction.

And maybe you are right that op wanted to start a fight, but is it possible at all that he genuinely wants to know peoples opinions on what he said?

Of course he can…Trump can invite whoever he wants.

Purporting to speak for the Irish people is the issue. He is not an elected representative so he does not speak on behalf of anyone.

I don’t know what he said, I don’t want to know what he said. I know that a scumbag like him does not speak for me.

The one thing McGregor is, and that's a massive disappointment. What a failure he made of himself and his character.

You might not be into MMA, and thats fine. But in his early days his achievements were admirable. From an apprentice plumber to his name in lights in NY and Vegas, a few short years. What he has become since is a massive disappointment and an embarrassment.

Many will say he was always like that, but not to those that didn't really know him. Had he any humility or respect in his nature he could have been a treasure.

This

One of my kids and all his mates loved the guy .....I got them autographs even though I didn't like him

Then it was like a switch was turned off and they went to thinking the guy is a prick

89% of people polled last year said they'd never vote for him

That's how much he's hated now

A family member met him a few months ago in a shop when he was hiding in plain sight before the court judgement.

He said he was very pleasant to start with because there was nobody else in the shop but suddenly 50 or 60 teens appeared and started recording him and he turned into a different character.

The first time I was aware of him was when I saw a video of him going to and from his training camp somewhere and he spotted a tricolour hanging from an apartment balcony. He pulled over and went up to the apartment and the guy got all excited to see his "hero".

I remember turning the video off and thinking that's a right wanker whoever he is. I haven't changed my opinion since.

I don’t know what appearance you’re on about but opinion of an individual will differ from person to person. I know many who wouldn’t have no gra for UFC but followed it through McG by getting Irelands name on the map. He was never a likeable character to me.

Do you "vet" everyone coming into the country, tourists and all?

As it is, anyone applying for international protection is fingerprinted and background checked with various international agencies.

It's a complex situation and not easily sorted by "vetting", whatever that might mean.

Gladstone brings up other issues as he wasn't an asylum seeker, nor was he a typical economic migrant.

Btw, all of those peeps are fingerprinted and background checked.

You still haven't explained what this word "vetted" means because clearly it doesn't mean fingerprinted and checked for a criminal record as that's done with every single person who applies for protection. What exactly is it that you want to be done?

What do you mean by "bring in vetting"?

I think he means people like Randi Gladstone

From rte news....

"A convicted r***ist who had only been in Ireland for a few days before he r***ed, sexually assaulted and falsely imprisoned a young woman has been jailed for ten years"

I mean what does "vetting" mean?

Do you "vet" everyone coming into the country, tourists and all?

As it is, anyone applying for international protection is fingerprinted and background checked with various international agencies.

It's a complex situation and not easily sorted by "vetting", whatever that might mean.

Gladstone brings up other issues as he wasn't an asylum seeker, nor was he a typical economic migrant.

There's 22,000 that should be vetted anyway

From gript...

"The data shows that almost 22,000 people have arrived at Dublin Airport between 2018-2024 without necessary documentation or with false documents. Many others are wandering down from the north having left Britain with that purpose"

Gript... Jesus wept!

Btw, all of those peeps are fingerprinted and background checked.

You still haven't explained what this word "vetted" means because clearly it doesn't mean fingerprinted and checked for a criminal record as that's done with every single person who applies for protection. What exactly is it that you want to be done? "

Are you saying that 22,000 figure is wrong?

The West

I keep seeing this idea floating around that violence against women in Ireland is going up because of refugees coming here. But from what I've found, that's just not supported by the facts.

Violence against women is a huge, long-standing problem in Ireland, way before any recent increase in refugees.

The data shows most violence against women comes from people they already know, like partners or ex-partners. It's a really deep-rooted issue in our society, and it's not something new that refugees brought with them. You can easily find this information with a quick Google search.

The femicide watch page on womenaid.ie track's the most up to date figures.

Alternatively you can give the facts a miss and continue spouting yer shite.

The figure is off no relevance to what you're saying tbh. You're suggesting people should be vetted but you don't even appear to know yourself what that means as you haven't yet explained it. I'm guessing it'll involve fingerprinting etc, which is already done with all who seek protection, including your 22,000.

It's not done with Irish, British, EU citizens or tourists, all of which add up to substantially more than your 22,000, and contribute handsomely to our crime statistics on an annual basis. Is that what you're looking for?

What is your response / plan of action to the issues I raised?

Ireland wants to know.

America wants to see!

Chip, chop now fellas, don’t make me keep going. Do what you’re told by the people of Ireland and we will have no issue here.

Do not and it’s over for you.

I will publicly send my orders for you to implement and mark my words it will be made to be done.

You have Twelve days to present a clear plan of action, on 1. Dismantling Irelands human trafficking racket. 2. Mass deportation of dangerous, criminal, and radicalised imports, as well as all who entered illegally, as well as all who are a strain on our welfare system who have made no effort to secure employment or assimilate with Irish culture and values. 3. Stringent border protection adjustments to stop this from ever happening again.

Be the hero here and save yourselves, and save Ireland, or my direct plan of action that Ireland and America wishes to see implemented will come in on White House paper attached with my signature ✍️

It's not very much of a rigmarole tbh. It's slow but could easily be sped up by having dedicated staff for it alone. As it is, they put your name and various addresses into their computer system and see if it matches anything.

It's a lot less of a rigmarole than what's currently done with people seeking protection here.

Nobody who has mentioned vetting has yet said what it means to them as clearly they don't believe it means a fingerprint and background check.

Ireland must fully implement the EU Migration Pact by June 12, 2026.

So between now and 12 June 2026, several pieces of legislation have to be passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas & then signed by the President.

The next presidential election must take place by 11 Nov 2025

Who else will stand up to Government and oppose this bill?

Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them.

I will!

For clarity also, as President, I would put forth this bill to referendum.

Although I oppose greatly this pact, it is neither mine nor governments choice to make.

It is the people of Irelands choice! Always!

That is a true democracy!

I would also be curious to hear our government officials reasoning for agreeing with this pact so fervently.

I would love to hear the debates!

Followed then by vote!

This is the future of Ireland with me as President.

All citizens of Ireland to have a voice and a choice on their future!

It's also worth pointing out that the president can't just call a referendum because he doesn't like a bill he's asked to sign

It's not a constitutional matter so a constitutional referendum isn't necessary.

There is such a thing as an "ordinary referendum" on non constitutional issues but it requires a majority of the Seanad members and one third of the Dáil members to sign a petition calling for it but we've never had one in the history of the state.

He's going to be a very disappointed president in that case.

I thought it was the right message but wrong messenger until I saw Garron Noone basically get cancelled for a very logical opinion on the subject while admitting it's a far more complex topic to be discussed in a short Tik Tok video.

Immigration is a good thing, Irish people are a prime example of it. This is an aged old trick to keep people focused on "the foreigners" instead of the government.

You can't get into America without a visa, you could be denied entry for the smallest of reasons, it's the same with Canada and Australia. There has to be some type of vetting and you can't show up with no passport and be paid for your time here. We have enough of our own ruining our cities and towns without adding more to it.

The focus should be on our disgrace of a healthcare system, housing crisis, record homelessness, money going missing or being spent on voting machines that don't work, ventilators and covid ppe that was useless and bike sheds in the Dail all of which are controlled by the government. They want us divided and aiming our anger at anybody else but them.

No you would need to sign a new form before they could vet you again. The invitation form can’t be dated more than 180 days prior to vetting as far as I remember. It’s bad practice to not re-vet and very frustrating that they don’t just put an expiry on them but them, the whole system is fairly shite. Also, a bit concerning that organisations are not re-vetting regularly.
