Portlaoise

Ok so we all have fav bands and gigs.

But what about the gig you went to that was a total disappointment. I'll start the ball rolling.

Simply Red @ Wembley Arena.

Was so looking forward to them but left after 30 mins along with a lot of others.

Newry

Iron Maiden - Ormeau Park, 2022. Dreadful. I felt kinda mortified for them. The only redemption was the brilliant support acts

Foo Fighters - Milton Keynes Bowl, 2015. The sound was dreadful. Not their fault, but it bounced off the back of the amphitheatre and where we were, the reverberation was dreadful. I just found it all underwhelming.

Guns n roses in slane. 2017?? Never looked forward to a gig more. Ended up getting off the bus to walk the last 5 or 6 kms. Got there late, sound was shite. Marley Park in 22 was epic though.

Wasn't impressed by westlife. Though in fairness I was dragged there against my will

Belfast

UB40 in the SSE Belfast about 6 years ago.

I've never been a fan but I was given a free ticket so went along for the experience.

It's not one I will be repeating.

Somewhere in Co. Down

My little funhouse (They had supported gnr in Slane),saw them one night in Cork after and the lead singer was throwing a strop because the crowd weren't giving them the attention he thought they deserved. Sound was crap his attitude was crap.

Foo Fs, I can't remember where they played, and although the gig was good, I felt Dave put the mic to the audience far too many times. I didn't pay obscene ticket prices to hear myself sing for the night.

Damien Rice in The Ivy Gardens

Came all late

Crowd talked the whole way through the songs that meant so much to me that I couldn't hear them properly

Went over curfew, they turned off the power and he couldn't finish the gig

Absolute shite

Simultaneously glad and disappointed that my singular experience of the peppers wasn't an anomaly.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers at Phoenix Park. The venue is shite, far too big and flat and the band were too meandering, laidback and chilled to really fill it. The Pixies, who supported, understood the assignment, came out and banged out their hits, blowing the RHCP away.

Soft Cell at St Anne’s Park,

So looking forward to the gig but they were awful.

Thank god for the support groups who knocked the gig out of the park!

Saw the Chilli Pepper's and was underwhelmed. The Pixies made a holy show of them as the support act.

In and around Louth, Meath, Cavan

Pearl Jam, seen them in O2/Three Arena many years ago they weren’t great, went to Madrid last year to see them and again the set was terrible, sound was brutal and Eddie tried to hard to engage with the Spanish crowd by reading from a sheet of paper while hammered (I think) which didn’t go down very well. Was never so disappointed in a band so much .
