Go to the pre drinks if it's being organised, and if not reach out to others that are going and suggest meeting before hand for a drink it does help ease the nerves.

Go with no expectations except to meet some nice people and anything else is an added bonus if it happens

Definetely pretty drinks, don't have high expectations, don't over indulge with grown ups drinks, act like if you were in a normal date this help to not have that extra pressure of having to interact, be mindful of consent, and overall have a relax time! We all started somewhere, you most likely will find a friendly face to welcome you.
