I would say a social meet isnt a date on fab.

But if I meet someone for a coffee through tinder there's a good chance they will call that a date.

The only difference that I can see is that on fab not having sex has to be specified 'this is not a date, we are not going to fuck, this is a meeting to see if sex is an agreeable outcome at a later time'm

On tinder that's a date. Otherwise it's a hook up.

Then there's 'dating' and going out on a date. Which is different again.

Some people consider dating someone a prelude to a relationship.

I like dating for dating sake. The way some people like sex.

It is a date. I meet people to see if we are compatible and if we can be intimate. Isn’t that what dates are about? At least those dates before relationship is established…

Sorry folks , yous will hate me for this. I still would say it’s a coffee date if it’s been arranged. If I met someone on the street I knew and we went for a coffee I’d just say we had a coffee. If it was out for a bit to eat and some play was arranged I can it a date night. I’m likely on wrong on that but sure everyone has their own way of saying or doing things.

I consider dates to be something that may lead to a romantic relationship, insomuch as that's the intention of both from the outset.

I generally consider a social to be a way see if we are compatible, get on well, and that there is physical attraction, with the intention of both from the outset that the end goal is sex.

It's highly unlikely on a first date that I'd discuss the nuts and bolts of having sex with that person. I'd be more likely to discuss that on a Fab social.

Its another example of the power of a word.

There’s fuck all difference between what happens on a fab coffee social and a first date but, to most, a date implies the potential of a relationship

I dunno if a date implies a relationship. I think it used to but nearly all the people I meet outside of fab aren't looking for a relationship and still enjoy dating.

You can have romance in your life and not have to go all in.

God no. That's just to see if you can stand being in the company of the other person and whether you like the cut of their jib.

I'm clearly old fashioned because in my head it implies relationship but when a Fab person says it to me I assume they don't mean that, because it a Fab "date" ie. in the calender date.

It's actually pretty cool to see how other people look at it. On my first meet I kinda seen it as a date. And still do I suppose.

Not that I've had many like. But I'm going out with kind of the same mentality as I would a date, I'm there to impress.

Why not call it a date. If you as a parent set up with another parent to have your kids play it's a play date. If I meet someone in order to see if we have mutual attraction then it's still a date.

No, it can't be assumed it's a date.

On a recent meet with a fabber, I asked her straight out was this a "date" or a "coffee"?.

She replied, "coffee".

So we had lunch, coffee, cake, and a great chat for a few hours. The pressure was off, it became very relaxed, and we parted as friends.

That's the side of Fab I love. It's not all about getting the shag, but forming friendships with like minded, sexy people.

I can't shag the whole site.

I meet my friends and call it a coffee date, meet guy on fab for a coffee its a coffee social.

I consider a date where I've been chatting to someone for a while and we going on a date to see how we get on in person and as a view to see do i want to see someone more.

So maybe it's a date, maybe not

It's a date for me, I appreciate its got some differences to a non fab date but it has so many similarities. New person, nerves, trying to make a good impression, meeting hopefully, may lead to intimacy etc. It's missing the potential of a ltr but everything else seems similar to me.

That’s an introduction to see if you like the person and vice versa. Not a date. This bar is si low that we have to be careful to not trip over it!

A nice rock

Kinda depends on the dynamic.

Just because its a coffee arrange on fan doesn't automatically rule it being a date out.

However I would think fab coffee meets being dates are in the very small minority

For it to be a date, it kinda has to be accepted as such by both parties either before or during but definitely after. It can’t really be a “well, I thought of it as a date” situation. With tinder etc. that’s kinda implicated whereas with Fab (and even within this thread) it’s more ambiguous

I'd have thought any date would kinda need ti be consensual by definition 🤣

Haha I get what you’re saying but if the someone accepts a coffee meet as a date, and the person he/she meets does not view it that way then it can’t ever be a date really objectify speaking.

I’m d*unk, ignore me!

A coffee meet is just a compatability check.

The next meet, if it happens, would be considered a date.

Whatever form that takes is up to the individuals.

Yet again, why bother labelling these things?

I'm meeting so and so.

The context/definition of two people meeting is irrelevant.

We're adults.

Whether it starts as coffee or dinner and ends in whatever manner is irrelevant.

It's just 2 people meeting up to start with.

Sometimes over analysis is analysis retentive

If I feel I'd like it to be a date, I'll call it a date, I will ask the person to humor me as I just want to go on a date, lol if they find that weird or stressful they may not be for me.

If it involves a prearranged meeting between two people on a specific date and time in a particular location to share a coffee/drink/food/walk/other shared activity ..... it's a date.
