I took up running

I tried really really hard

Beaides discovering hoka runners are like running on air, i hate it. I hate everything about it. I hate the nods from other runners. I hate the fact i started doin stretches against a pole or a tree. I hate the fact that i splash my ankles. I hate the fact that i hate it. I wanted to love it

Unless im being chased by a dog or an angry husband or a jehovah witness. Im now retired from running

This made me laugh. Don’t know if it was supposed to or not, but I like this sense of humour - especially the hating of the stretches against a pile and getting splashed on the ankles.

Hope the post helped get all the frustration out of your system. If not there are a few other things you could try….

I think I have given up drinking for good . And I am exercising all the time . It’s not always fun but showing up will reap its rewards in time . If running isn’t your thing find another exercise

Every stride is one closer to the end. Iv havnt reached the Gen part yet where you feel like your gliding with no pain and no thoughts of 'when will this end'. Takes all my will power to get to 5k, and I'm so slow it takes for feckin ever.

My ankles, knees & hips are too precious to me to F**K them up by running on the road , way loads of other ways to exercise & keep fit than running on the road , a person doesn't have to clock up the miles on the road to get it stay fit ..find something that works for you that won't f**K up your limbs .

I don’t run for these exact reasons

Find a low impact form of cardio instead..

spinning classes, strength training, anything that doesn’t put pressure on your knees or ankles and hips, you’ll definitely find something you like, 🤞

I have massive respect for runners. It's pure discipline .

I can't think of a single other sport that I can't hide from. There's always someone running no matter where you go.

God I hate it. I'll swim a mile or cycle 40km but I'll be fucked if I'll run to the corner.

With you all the way OP.

Spent most of my life playing competitive contact sports. Now I find exercise difficult.

I bore of it all really quickly. I'll go to the gym for three or four months, get bored of it, then go swimming. That will only last about 4-5 weeks, then I'll go running, and around an around we go!! 🤪

belfast/Down, but can travel.

I have had my mid life crisis and started eating right and exercising. Lost a fair bit of weight. I want to run and enjoy it, but I absolutely hate it. So boring either on treadmill or outside. Treadmill is the worst. Need to find a regular, enjoyable form of cardio. Any suggestions welcome. 🤔

I think a good thing to do is enter a few 5k and 10k events. It gives you something to work towards every few weeks.

Meath

I feel exactly the same as the OP.

I started running.. hated it.. tried to build it up.. hated it.. got to about 10k.. run/walk.. hated it.

decided to do an event and as soon as I hit that goal that was it.. no more running..

Now I lift heavy stuff.. gives me much more endorphins and less injuries.

I love running because it gives me time in the outdoors and it also helps clear my head of alot of noise. Running is not for everyone and it's a matter of finding what works for you. I have to have a goal to aim for or else it is very easy to not go running. I'm aiming to complete a half marathon or two this year and then do my first full marathon next year. Thats if my body can stay together 😆😆😆😆

I go to classes, mostly weight training and has to be pre booked, that keeps me accountable. I definitely don't like getting up at 5.30am, but its great to get it done early and keeps the evenings free for everyone else in the house.

When away for work I go to a regular gym and go through the motions, it's monotonous and boring 😴

Get to a class, do what your told while your there, push yourself ❤️

Always hated running 🤢

I have a collection of bronze medals for running when I was at primary school. I always finished third no matter the competition.

I also have a silver medal from the one and only 5k I've ever done but I never enjoyed running or felt cut out for it so haven't run the length of myself in more than 40 years.

Walking is much more enjoyable and I can look around me as I go.

I gotta say I absolutely love running.

With the right tune it’s just such a freeing feeling, focused on the pounding of the feet, the looseness of the legs and that high tempo music just hitting the spot.

I only run on a treadmill now to reduce impact to the body, but absolutely love it
