Unpredictable cycle (for the ladies)

Hey ladies

I’ve recently had a change in cycle pattern . I’ve gone from having no period (due to contraceptive injection ) to having one almost every day for the last 4 weeks . Obviously I plan to see the doctor to get it checked out , but how do ladies with unpredictable cycles manage with meets on here. I don’t want to arrange a meet and have to cancel on the day because I’ve started bleeding (even though it’s only very light ) I don’t feel sexy having sex on my period so that’s not an option for me

While peri-menopausal my cycle was very unpredictable. I just had to plan as best I could, but had to cancel a couple of times with profuse apologies. Truthfully, anyone worth their salt will understand and perhaps, if you're feeling up to it, you could suggest doing something else socially instead.

Far far away

Cycles depend on where you in your hormonal journey. Unfortunately as you age, cycles fluctuate. I find mature men understand and being honest is the best policy. Definitely go to doctor to check hormone levels.

I get ya. That's unsettling. I've the coil now so it's not an issue. But in your shoes id probably just not arrange any meets til I saw the doc and it all settled down. Some guys would be fine with it all, and that's a comfort in itself, but if you feel out of sorts it would just be adding stress to have meets planned.

It's a pain well was I've not had a period in 3 yrs. But prior to it from being very clockwork, to it being the polor opposite. I had to cancell. But you do get impression your just fobbing off it's a easy excuse to use.... nothing worse the getting issues leading up to menopause with a regular cycle.

Yeah I think it’s definitely adding stress trying to plan a meet and almost putting me off the process at the moment …. It’s a man’s world lol x

I've been regular to within a few days for my while life so when things started to change last year it completely threw me mentally and physically. It wasn't much blood and I was meeting someone I knew well but it was an issue for me. And my mental state was affected due to the changing hormones which was almost harder to deal with.

I have cancelled meets when I've started earlier than expected. I couldn't feel comfortable about it even if they said no problem.

If it would just stop i'd only be thrilled

It's hard to get a doctor to listen to you . Most female doctors say oh live with it or just get over it.

I found male doctors can be more sympathetic and more willing to help. Think finding a doctor that will listen and will tru to help is the main thing and the hardest thing.

I’ve had the opposite experience with male doctors tbh . I’m sure I’m on the road to peri menopause 😫

Just to help you with the actual question, you can buy a menstrual cup that allows you to have sex or a tampon that is actually a sponge you put in. In case you buy the sponge, I recommend the one with lub/moisturiser.

find a cadence that suits you. Use the bikes gears to maintain that cadence. Start off on relatively flat roads then gradually bring inclines into your cycle. After a few weeks of regular spins you'll be flying it! Hope this helps

My GP (male) was really understanding when I blubbed in my appointment. I was considering the mirena coil before things settled. I had a biopsy to check things. There are options. I know a few people swear by revive active for menopause. Hope you find something and someone to help. Xx

Mine are all over the place and have gotten progressively worse since i had our last little one. Ive lost count how many times ive been to the doc (female) and brushed off with them saying oh try these tablets or well these things happen when we get older. I have them at the minute and they are horrendous, the pains are excruciating, and my anxiety levels are through the roof. My hormones are all over the place and im just ready to cry. Ive another appointment on thursday with a male doc that has known me since i was small and im not leaving until something is done because i cant keep going like this. Im absolutely wiped out.

When its come to meets, the few weve had ive just cancelled. You cant control it and if the person you meeting gets all uppity over it then thats their prob.

I reckon most of us women have been on the contraceptive pill or similar for a big part of our lives, messing with our natural hormone cycle.

Expecting to revert back to normal within a few months after coming off said hormones, particularly when of a certain age, is just simply unrealistic.

Add in that the western diet of highly processed food with high sugar content, hormone fed meat etc also has a massive effect on our hormonal system!

I'm 49, nowhere near menopause or perimenopause, with a cycle of every 25-27 days.

If you want to balance female hormones, start with your lifestyle. Cut out processed foods and stimulants, load up on fresh, preferably organic vegetables and fruit, lots of nuts and seeds, and do weight bearing exercises regularly. This is the first thing any good GP should prescribe for 3 months to start with. Unfortunately we want the quick fix tablet which can come with more problems down the road.

I use wild yam cream to help balance progesterone production also.

But I'm dreading onset of menopause when hearing the horror stories from women 😳

Women can be in perimenopause from early 40s. Late 40s would be late enough to not be there yet. New research suggests women should start on HRT before perimenopause starts.

A good diet etc is obviously important but when it comes to treating peri/menopause it's not nearly enough.

I was that lucky lady who went into peri menopause during Covid. Omg it was horrendous, but I just watched and read as much as I could.

For me HRT worked, with a small amount of anti depressant to settle the anxiety.Whatever works for you grab it.No periods now ....woop woop

Just go with your gut and be kind to yourself, it's not easy xxxx
