Do you ask about STI tests results?

Story time - get the popcorn ready! 😂🙈

Why do some single guys, in particular, get pissy and offended when they’re asked about the most recent tests results?

We’ve encountered this attitude quite often lately and it’s actually something which is not talked enough about.

*Info piece: everyone can purchase FOR FREE home STI kits trough sh24, or can get tested FOR FREE at most of the hospitals around the country* ❤️

Oh yeah, I think it’s matter of respect for the one who you play with to share them.

And no, actually never encountered any problem with women or couples sharing theirs.

I'm miffed about it too. My last test was at the end of last November. I shared my status with partners I was sexually active with. I also shared my hpv status (neg) after my routine smear last November. I have no problem forwarding my text. I don't engage with anyone who is vague or coy about sharing the same or gets pissy about it. If you are sexually active then every 12 weeks to 16 weeks is a responsible time frame for testing, that equates to 3-4 times a year. It's no big deal. I would steer clear of those who can't communicate about their sexual health in a clear respectful manner.

Most couples and guys never get tested.

Apparently 80-90% of STD’s have few symptoms.

As regular players and a preference for BB we are tested every 3 months.

This is the requirement for a PrEP prescription.

We have also been vaccinated against Hep. A and B, plus Mpox, tetanus etc.

We take our health seriously but it’s always a lottery when you play with others

I've never asked or been asked in all my time here but then again the total number of people I've had sex with in my lifetime is still in single figures.

I'm not meeting and haven't met anyone new in 5 years but the one person I have had sex with in that time doesn't need to ask because we both did our last tests together.

This is a no brainer

Sexual health is personal health. I've no problem asking for upto date sexual health information and sharing the same.

It's a lot harder asking afterwards!!!!

If theres an issue.

I ask and I share my status or my partner at the time will. It's never been a problem or an awkward conversation.

Got my test results this morning. All clear 😁

I would. You can't trust that people are staying safe. And I'd share mine with anyone who asked.

It’s insane to have sex with someone without a test. As you say, it’s free, easy, and quick. And if they can’t or won’t do it, what else are they sketchy about? I also find it amazing the number of guys who don’t bother asking if I’m on contraception; do they want to have that fun phone call in six weeks?

Absolutely, I ask every time and for a screen shot! I appreciate when I’m asked too. Myself and my partner just had ours redone. I would never risk him and him me. He's the only person I BB, but I still ask to see STI results.

If the person doesn't share their results or says they didn't get tested I usually do not do blowjobs without a condom. Penetration is always with a condom.

I'm always promoting sh24.ie (see my profile) and am getting regularly tested, so of course I'd share my test results. Anyone who gets pissy, avoids the subject or otherwise isn't forthcoming will be met with high suspicion and is out as a partner.

While I've never tested positive for any STIs myself, my stance is that even if someone had did so at some point but is now testing negative - shit can happen. As long as you're taking care of yourself, trying to prevent anything in that regard happening, and letting everyone who might have also been exposed know: that's all I ask.

I also know STIs can be a big stigma, which is why I'm also trying to avoid stigmatizing language like "clean".

Another fair point to clarify in regards to HIV+ is U = U

Undetectable = Untransmissible

If the person is living with HIV and takes their medication, they do not transmit HIV. If a person knows their status and looks after themselves, they are safer than anyone that is not regularly tested.

I would have no problem asking. I also get tested regularly using sh24. It's very quick and easy. Great service TBF!

Yes. If I meet someone from fab, and there's going to be intimate touch, I need to know their sexual health status. I'm straight up about it, and bring it into the conversation before any touch. However, if they have an STI I may still give them a massage, while taking good precautions. STIs are very common, and it's statistically likely many people we know have an STI. There is a culture of shame around it, here in Ireland . We should bring all aspects of sexuality out of the darkness and talk about it.

I don't think anyone gets offended by being asked. I've always keep my test results on my phone, and I start by showing them my results.

Why would anyone be offended on being asked, it's for safety reasons and everyone should respect it. I have my results on my phone, it takes less than a minute to order and less than a week to know the results.
