Do many people still use them in this day and age?

I've seen so many fabulously tanned bodies here that I'm guessing people still do? Both men and women.

As a pasty red head I'd only be wasting my time and money so I don't. Never have in fact!

Probably be nervous enough of them with all the warnings around them too.

I was in PDI on holiday in October for a week and got a very slight glow ....don't stay out for long

I heading to the Canaries in 3 weeks for a holiday to a naturist resort

Decided to go on a sunbed once a week since October just to be a bit tanned when I get there

10 mins once a week

That's it then but I'll probably go back on them in September as I'm going back to PDI in October

If I'm on top of a mountain in blazing sun I'm covered in factor 50 with a sunhat.

I'm thinking of unfriending someone on Facebook who has started advising people to stop wearing sunglasses because they are stopping natural light getting into your eyes and leading to poor health and just this week has given the same advice regarding suncream and how we should stop being indoctrinated into using any form of sun protection. 🙄

The things should be banned. The risks to your skin the uv lighting is do damaging to you skin cells. There is no safe sun bed. Never used one and never will.

That is, unless they’ve been recommended by a dermatologist for a skin condition.

Exactly a year ago she was in Australia visiting a relative who was recovering from skin cancer so I'm struggling to understand her thinking.

I think now any good dermatologist wouldn't advise. I flipping wear screen screen on my face all yr. Most tinted moisturisers have sun screen in them. People wise up

I’m the same…spf 50 on my face all year. Def have sun damage on my chest and shoulders in particular from when I was younger so trying to avoid further damage now.

It baffles me that sun bed places are still legal tbh.

I'm currently in Melbourne and have travelled upto Sydney and Gold Coast. Love the sun but in all honesty I'm covering myself in factor 50 twice a day. I would never use a sunbed as the risks are far too high.

My daughter has been on the Gold Coast for the last year and despite slapping on the factor 50 every chance she gets, she still got badly burned when surfing on Christmas Day.

should be that's why you never see them in hotel spas or anything. Usually back street places. If people looked up the risks in percentage you never go there again and it's all in the name of vain to look good.

I worked out of a gym couple years ago that did sunbeds also and there were some people in daily using them you can imagine the damage they've done to themselves 🙈

Think its something like a 20% risk of skin cancer if you only used them once.

Cannot fathom why they’re still not banned in Ireland, there’s been talk for years,completely banned in Oz since 2013 I think, self tanners and spray tanning has come such a long way so faking it should be the preferred and only option, unless ya wanna look leathery and risk skin cancers.

Also if that wasn’t off putting enough, ya just have to look at some of the pictures here the amount of naked nasty stuff happening on the beds or in the stand up booths! And in some places they’re not cleaned properly or at all 🤢❌

I've always used self tanners and often ask am I on sun beds lol so your right they've come a long way theres no excuse for beds these days.

I agree on the cleanliness of them 🤢 speaking from experience where I worked I'd be afraid to put a finger on them let alone anywhere else 🤢

I've never used them and have no intention of using them in the future. I've never sunbathed either but worked outdoors for over 20 years. I have already had skin cancer so I'm extra careful now .I actually discovered the mole that had turned cancerous while putting sunscreen on. So I guess I could say sunscreen saved my life already
