So, does requesting meets through the forums actually work?

Since I've joined 6ish months ago, I've seen threads weekly on a person (mostly a guy) saying that they are available on such a date/time at whatever location for a meet.

Then....no replies, one maybe if they are extremely lucky.

But that doesn't mean that they aren't getting private messages.

So the question,do these thread actually work or do other people tend to avoid them?

somewhere

Even if they don't work at least the person posting is getting their name out there which isn't a bad thing

Never Fails !!! All the ladies love public displays of affection from potential suiters. Tongue and cheek I'm afraid, never tried ! But I can say presence on the forums and how you contribute will be noted, and used against or in your favour.

The people I had seen posting the threads, I don't see their names pop up in the day to day general threads so I don't think that they are getting their name out for the right reason....

But that's just my opinion. Maybe they are posting elsewhere.

If the post is from a male id imagine not, if the post is from a female im sure her inbox would be full with suiters 😂

That is so true. I do t remember seeing any from a lady. If I remember right, all of them have been males!

I've never done it or posted a meet anywhere on here, whether that be through a status or the meet section so I've no idea if it works or not.

My local updates used to be full of women posting meets one day and complaining they couldn't get anyone decent the next day.

Not sure how they were going to decide suitability in such a short space of time.

It's a double edged sword also in that if something if off with your profile it will come back and haunt you with the answers

So you better have a thick skin

Oh yeah, the status too. You have a fair point on them.

But in those cases, I would assume the person is looking for a once off not a person to meet again.

Surely posting in the meets/events would be more appropriate. I am yet to see it, but I’d bet ladies and couples would get an overwhelming response mind you!

True, I would think that would be a better place. But then again, the amount of guys Vs ladies/couples in that meets section when you go into each area tends to be huge.

Oh, to the guys who have listed meets on the forums, I'm in no way judging you, was interested to see if the approach actually worked or not and how it was perceived by others.

The West

It's rare to see a forum post getting traction for a meet but then we don't know if people get in touch with lads when they do post.

A lot of posts like that are pretty low effort but then you'll get others that are sincere and will get a response.

Most recently a gentleman posted about visiting Cobh and got a great response and I've no doubt he made a few local connections.

I never look at the meets section so tried it just now

You either pick a county or any

I assumed "any" meant the 26 counties actually Listed

But it lists all The UK

That would be a gigantic pain in the arse unless I'm doing it wrong

Each to their own in the pursuit of happiness, the forms on help a fabber out can be very informative and good craic as well.

Attending socials and events and getting to know people saves a lot of time.People generally need to know people for repeat meets, as the dynanic involves more than play.

Navigating the lifestyle is a learning for us all. Enjoy it

I think you can look at the forums as a way to get to know people that you think you might like. Then there is the opportunity to maybe take thins further. It's not quite as simple as making a request and someone accepting

Hmm as pointed out, a person from out side the area could benefit by posting on the forums, but the ones I had seen where (lads) looking for meet ups in their own areas (profile says the are from Dublin and they are looking for meets in the same area).

The meets section is a pain, it's setup for UK and not Ireland specific so you do have to select each county and sees who's there.

A nice rock

I dont see any issue with posting on the forum looking for meets.

It definitely works too.

As usual on here women will be applauded for their initiative in going after what they wanted and lads will be ripped apart as easy targets by people looking to be gatekeepers for the "lifestyle" and the ladies.

I've never requested a meet via the forums in any shape or form. 'Convenience meets' hold little mystique for me.

I have, however, had socials and dalliances on the back of my forum presence when a woman has messaged me, but those engagements were months after the initial message.

maybe you'll get the best answer if you post such a thread on the forum yourself? 🤣🤗😁

Co. Cork

I am meeting some fabbers on a walk in Cork tomorrow and I will ask the question about seeking meets through the forums.

It will be mostly ladies....(not the usual male majority that a lot of fab events seem to attract)....so the answers may have a somewhat female bias.

True, actually that might be one of the reasons most people don't do it. They are looking for someone special or someone to connect to.
