You can buy pint glasses? I mean, yes, totally bought them

Most devastating incident of liberating glasses from a bar involved a 21st, some lovely cocktail glasses and a bag falling off the table in Supermacs 😭

A mixture. Some were bought new, some from charity shops, some from eBay. Some I've asked bartenders if I could have them, and a couple have been "liberated"

When wetherspoons were in town they used to have a table with all different glasses on it that you could take and they had a donation box there as well. So got some lovely pint glasses but i did give donations too so guess we technically paid for them

I had an aunt did this every time she left our house, then when we visited hers she'd have whatever it was somewhere we'd spot it. Some things we never noticed til we saw it in her house, other things we'd be going up the walls looking for

I still have one ashtray because one person visits once a month that smokes

I do like a nice glass. There is a certain night-time establishment in Killarney that has amazing heavy embellished glasses.

For me, the glass is the experience of the drink at times.

I volunteer in a charity shop - pint glasses galore there for €1 or €2 each. Much easier way to acquire any glasses.

I think the coveted ones are those with embossed with drink brands. Only have a single Guinness glass at home cane with a gift pack!

I don't drink so I've never liberated a glass of any description.

The two pint glasses currently in my cupboard were sitting outside my gate one morning during lockdown when some of the local pubs were doing home deliveries so I'm assuming one of the neighbours left them there.

Glasses are child's play , I have 9 bar stools and a 6ft pipe from an organ that was part of the dj box in a night club ,

Also have a 5ft plastic ice cream

Promotional materials, especially branded glassware, are built into the overall cost of the product by the brewery so they don't in fact just get handed to the publican for free.

Taking an item without paying for it or having the owners permission, irrespective of its financial or emotional value, is still theft....

I supplied the licensed trade for more than 20 years but not with drink or glassware so I'm no expert on either.

I know though that publicans in places like Clones all had to contribute to a glass pool because on match days and especially Ulster finals where thousands were drinking on the streets and walking out of one pub with a glass and leaving it in another or on a windowsill, they had no way of keeping tabs on who owned what.

I used to think they were all supplied by the breweries and over the years I've listened to dozens of bar owners complain about the cost involved but I haven't a clue how that cost is broken down.

And as I said above, drinks delivered during covid were also in glasses because my daughters used the service and got a refund on the glasses on their next order.
