A den in the Glen

Off to Cobh in March and coincidentally for St Patrick's Day FFS.

Decent place? Any advice for a noob.

Happy to take "get the feck outta there and head to xxxxxx instead" but unfortunately I'm there for family reasons and tied to the area. But when the old feckers go to bed, I might have a prowl.

And to change your county, Irish fab doesn’t work off post codes, got to “my details” and change your country/region to Cork

Haha I just saw the 'titanic experience' and my mind closed off to the rest.

Makes the 'already booked into this' a little different. 😂

Dreams are free!

Co. Cork

The Jameson Distillery tour in Midleton is relatively close by to Cobh.

Thanks for the responses. You get bugger all responses for help over here. This is new territory. 😂

Spike Island is on the list and aware that it runs limited in March and the distillery is definitely on the cards.

What about a night out? Cobh ok or into Cork?

An Bróg is a brilliant spot, but I’m not sure the age range of people that go there. I’m usually seen cutting about down there!

Kelly’s and The Roaring Donkey would be a couple of pubs I’d recommend if sampling pints..

The city is a great spot but Cobh will be lively during paddy’s day…

Thank you. Notepad out. I like older people and sticky mats if that helps 😂

I'm sure I'll have time to visit both and see what both have to offer. Especially if I can jettison older relatives.

Casa Del Fun

Cobh is a fantastic place to visit!

We go there regularly, loads to see and do and just a short hop/commute on the local train into Cork city for some browsing/shopping.

Take a trip out to Spike Island, even try the Titanic Experience. Theres even a short walk to the Memorial gardens or even FOTA resort for either play a round of Golf or a visit to the Wildlfe park there.

Some decent bars there too.

Either way, you’ll have a blast 🤩

Thank you TD. I must admit I quite enjoy getting creative and pushing boundaries and trying different things. Not always supported by the picture police to be fair.

And likewise...lovely pics you have there. 😁

Lovely Nero, I am actually 57% Irish according to some DNA thingy majig I did a while back but have never been to my ancestral home of Cobh. I am actually going there to scatter ashes and meet up with family. Someone I have not seen in 40+ years and closer family.

I am sure I will have a great time. I was hoping to have some 'me time' or have a 'fab time' and check out some world famous Irish hospitality. I just don't know how I'll get away with it to be honest. Especially if Auntie Doris is in the hotel room next to me!
