"Put this question in a fab context. Would you meet anyone here based on them telling you that they were nice or genuine? The general consensus is that anyone describing themselves as such are anything but if they have to continually reinforce it. Would you tell a prospective employee that you had been having issues with staff pilfering and ask them to convince you that they weren't a thief? " Completely agree, also why they would think that all it takes is a promise from the job applicant not to misbehave is very naive. Sounds like the type of practice that would take place in a university or a public service department. Pointless box ticking.

"I would say no thank you but I'd prefer not to work in such a divisive situation. Openly pre-judging prospective employees and suggesting they justify themselves because of the 'sins' of others in the past certainly portrays a toxic environment to work in. It's a big no thank you. Plenty of nice people to work with out there. ![]() This, being asked this question waves all the red flags, be glad to find this out during the interview process

"Looks like a lot of the guys got butt hurt on this one. Himself works in female dominated role and zero issues. References exist for a reason. And you can be asked for Garda clearance. Nothing wrong with checking male behaviour. I for 1 have been sexually assaulted at work last year. So YES this happens in real life. " I worked for a female boss for more than 2 decades. In all that time we had 20+ male employees and 3 female. The only person to be dismissed for inappropriate behaviour in all that time was one of the women and the boss took great offence at how she spoke to and treated some of the male staff. In another job I personally disciplined a male member of my dept for inappropriate behaviour towards one of the women he was working with. His response to that was to physically attack me and immediately play the mental health card while I was suspended for gross misconduct because I hit him back in self defence. With a week a female member of staff was reported by a number of male employees all under the age of 20 for her sexually charged comments towards them and wolf whistling when they entered a room. She was never disciplined because management felt it wasn't a good look taking action against a long standing member of staff and it would send out the wrong message to the other women who worked in her dept. Am I butt hurt over the op? Not in the slightest but don't make me out to be part of a problem or expect me to be part of a solution to an issue you as a company have allowed to develop. I have interviewed lots of men and women over the years for various positions. I have asked them to put meat on the bones of their CVs and talked to them about what they could bring to the company. I show them the respect they deserve and don't back them into a corner with triggering questions.

"*The above is a joke. Put the pitchforks down ladies." .... Glad you clarified that. It's so easy to have attempts at humour mistaken for something else on here. 😂🤣😄🤣😂

I would rather do those things than say that I would.

"I would need someone who is always available. And obedient. Someone who will follow my instructions without hesitation. This job will also require someone who can attend evening events, social gatherings, business meetings. And there will be weekends away from home, hotel stays. Do you think you are a good candidate?" ..... Pick me, pick me.... I will wear a suit and tie or whatever dress code you stipulate. 👔👕👖🧦👘🥾🧢

" Very sorry to hear that happened to you and I genuinely hope that justice was done. If you think that all men should have to assure a job interview committee that they won't sexually assault someone kinda shows that you may have a low opinion of men. Using language like "butt hurt" to describe the reaction of men who honestly answered the initial question is also quite telling.

This is worrying and I am glad you are taking this seriously as I do not wish to work in a toxic environment alongside others exhibiting these tendancies. I understand that your question is an attempt to stop more "problematic men" joining your company, and as well intended as this may be, I believe this is a misguided method which will not solve your problem. I would suggest a top to bottom review of your business and how it deals with issues of gender equality and ensure that your business investigates best practice in this area and implements procedures that create an inclusive and safe environment for all your employees "

As for the rest of your comment "DITTO" " I'm sorry to hear the ordeal you went through. Sounds terrible and very badly dealt with. If you retained any of those communications from management I would follow up with that for sure. You can complain to the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC), under the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2015. I won't link it here but just Google the act. The WRC or Labour Court may: Award compensation of up to a maximum of €40,000 or 2 years’ pay (whichever is greater) Order the employer to take measures to prevent harassment or sexual harassment going forward, including by way of implementing appropriate training or policies.

I'm not here to convince you or anyone else that I am 'safe' based solely on my gender. I'll end the interview now as I'm no longer interested in the opportunity. Thank you and goodbye.
