Am I Wrong ?

Hey, just a quick Question. My friends are pushing me into a party for my birthday (apparently you have to celebrate milestones) . They want to celebrate it,even a month early because it suits half of them . I told them I have no interest but they are saying I am wrong . I never celebrated birthdays and I just prefer to have it like a day like any other.

Am I wrong, to not want a party ?

Your opinion is important, but your friends opinions are too. Maybe you could just do something low key so they feel they celebrated with you, but isn't a massive fuss

If you don’t want a part they should respect that if they go ahead and organise one don’t go, simples! Let them know what you would rather do instead

Sorry now but I disagree with you. You are wrong. Jesus go out and enjoy yourself and celebrate you. Your no 1 for the day.

If your mate have organised something just go with it. You can't go backwards and we'll be dead long enough.

Right now...off with ya and give your mates a day out.

Just make sure there's strippers

I didn't want to celebrate my 40th and refused to make plans. I had my reasons. My friends turned up at my door, put tent up in my yard, lit a fire and opened a bottle of whiskey.

It was alright. They were doing their best for me and I love them for it. But it wasn't what I wanted and it wasn't what I needed.

Mind yourself buddy. Do what you need to do.

If you can, don't be alone.

Happy birthday

Sounds like it's more about them than you 🤷 Are they just wanting a reason for a get-together?

Never wanted a 50th ....told everyone ..no fuss...its no big deal

Out for dinner with the kids....walked into the restaurant and 15 family members already sitting at the table .....my dad bought me my first ever pint of Guinness. It was a great night to be honest .....

Next month I'm 60 and I told the family I don't want any celebrations but I'm heading to the Canaries with Toxic to be sure to be sure

Mine is soon and I don't want a party this time. I want to go for a hike, my friend wants us to go for a sauna, so we'll probably do both and then lunch or dinner.

Doesn't have to be a party it can be a lunch or something you're more comfortable with? It's your birthday so ultimately you decide how to spend it.

You could go either way on this but you're not wrong. It only possibly harms you if you decide to or not to have a party. Your friends could be pushing for it as they care about you, I doubt they are looking for just another excuse to go out but that's something only you could know.

You will have a party wether you like it or not and you will enjoy it wether you want to or not......bla bla bla

Don't let them rule ya! Celebrate or not how you see fit. It's not the end of the world either way. And if it is the end, then it won't make a difference either way

I’ve never been a big fan of birthdays and hate being the centre of attention in that way so for me it would be a “thank you for your kind gesture but a hard no!” And I’ve started to make people respect that view I have. It’s my birthday after all. If an extrovert wanted a party we wouldn’t tell them not to 🤷‍♀️

I prefer to act like it’s a normal day. Grab some food that I fancy. If the weather is nice go for a walk/hike. Have some “me” relaxing time. That’s what fills my cup up.

Personally I can be like that sometimes and then when I go out I love it and have a great night!! Have never said I wish I didn’t go afterwards, especially since all those lockdowns a few years back….

It’s great to catch up with everyone but I would be saying don’t make me the centre of attention just cause it’s my birthday… and they know me so they wouldn’t….

I think go and you will probably have a great night with them - if not you could make an early exit anyway.

Not sure if you had other reasons for not wanting to go either but at face value that’s what I would be thinking. Either way enjoy your birthday!!

I'd be resistant myself but have had some special.times with partners and friends creating a surprise party.

It is awful to be loved by people who want to celebrate you and validate you.

Heavy lies the crown.

To be fair, I suspect that would be the reaction of most normal people. Maybe I'm just a bitch as well?

Do you ask that on every thread that doesn't involve swinging?

"What has this topic got to do with swinging ? "

Do you find it necessary to comment like this on every non-swinging related topic?

People like to chat on the forums about all kinds of things. The forums are a broad church. I'd suggest just skipping those that don't interest you. Or explore the other sub forums. Better still, perhaps start some threads of your own instead of pissing on other people's chips.

It's your birthday do what you want on it don't feel pressurised by others to do something you don't want especially if you have already told them that. I personally would hate a big party and so far have avoided having them for all my big milestone birthdays and my friends have been true friends and know it's not what I would enjoy so never organised them for me.

You post this a lot. The forum is used for many topics. If you only want to talk about swinging there is a swinging forum you can read instead.

Please stop disrupting the forum by spamming this on every thread you don't like

To the OP, do what my friend did and send a cardboard cutout of himself instead.

Talk to your friends again OP. If you're adamant you don't want to do anything for your birthday, tell them. Tell them you're not just saying it, and that it's causing you annoyance.

There's no right or wrong way to do birthdays and if you'd prefer to not celebrate yours that's totally valid
