"They should behave as themselves. Just like profile advice why should anyone provide a guide on how to conduct yourself in public and tips on amending your behaviour so that you can get through a social? If a social is scripted that should be a huge red flag. " What if being themselves IS being an entitled asshole? ![]()

"My experience of assholes is they are generally not polite apparently they weren't smart assholes... even an asshole should know the rules of etiquette " I think the personal definition of asshole differs so much from person to person that this discussion would go on for ever. I would assume that . I would also imagine that most assholes are good at hiding it for a time, but not forever.

"Take a 'no' well. Take a non-response as a polite no thank you and move on. Don't assume what others are looking for. Lots of couples don't look for singles. And swinging doesn't necessarily mean instant hookups. A lot of people treat their swinging more like dating. " I know for a lot of forum users, this would be common sense but I bet for a good 20% minimum of fab, this is groundbreaking

"As a single guy at a social I'd say some etiquette, being customary social rules for a particular group, I would follow are: Don't assume people are there to have sex. Swinging is a social scene and lots of people are there to catch up with friends. Don't get d*unk. Other people will. Give attention and be polite to both partners in a couple. Even if the guy is really rude. Know when to move on. Avoid dominating anyone's time. It's a mixer so assume everyone wants to mix. Know that some people will assume you are talking to them because you want to have sex with them and will want you to move on because they don't want to give you or other people the wrong impression. Know that if you hit on every woman you talk to that they likely are talking to each other too and it gets noted. Conversely if you keep it classy that gets noted too. It's accepted that if you ask the host to introduce you to some people they will be happy to do that. Don't stand on your own watching people if your not having a good time. If you can't push through it's better to leave if your not making contact whatever the reason. Do follow up with anyone you were interested in afterwards. Do follow up and ask the host and people you had the craic with to verify you. Be honest with yourself about why you are there. If you want to hook up be honest about that. If you want to join the social scene and network then focus on that. Those things don't have to be mutually exclusive but I find ruling out sex on the night clears the air fit having a great night out. Thank the host when you leave and leave them a verification to help promote their efforts. " I'm actually going to add one to this, I do see plenty of people doing it anyway but THANK the host for providing a venue or inviting you. It's not an easy job, it's the least people can do.
