I saw someone giving out theat the party scene was a closed circle.

I don't agree as we have been invited to a lot of parties by people we don't know .

We hosted a party recently and yes we only asked people we knew. But surely it's up to us who we decide to ask . When we rent a house and pay a security deposit we want to know who the people are that are going to be at the house .

We do our first time meets at big socials and if we all get along then they are our friends and will probably get an invite then.

If I was hosting a party, my guestlist would absolutely be curated and I'd make no apologies for it.

If I was to invite someone I'd not met personally, it wouldn't be a totally random invitation - there'd be a fair bit of research done first.

Your party your choice.....you'd hardly invite people to your birthday party that you didn't know so why would it be any different regardless of the type of party...surely first and foremost it's a social evening with friends

Would agree, you can't just give out blind invites to someone you don't know or trust

So far I'd invite everyone on this thread to any party I'd ever hold

I got the impression but possibly from a different thread that the problem was that once the couple got into the party they found it hard to mix and mingle as everyone seemed to know each other

If that's the case then it's up to the organisers to ensure that they are introduced to others

Everyone has to start somewhere and most people that go to parties know what it's like to be new and unsure of what to do

But absolutely agree OP if I had a house hired out on my credit card then I will vet who's going

If you weren’t advertising the party why do you have to justify who you invite ?

It’s your party so you decide who goes !

It’s easy for a couple to disagree that it’s a closed circle , couples and single ladies get invited to parties without even looking for invites, single men don’t , so there’s no comparison.

It’s simple logic! If anything happens it’s on you so why on earth would you have people you don’t know

Whoever even started this complaint needs to look at why they aren’t been invited

It is most definitely the hosts choice for whom they invite to their party. I'm sure that if we are ever able to host an party there will be those who complain about it and that is there right. It's simply the hosts choice and bad luck for those not chosen

Exactly, if you are organizing a party you get to choose who is going. The thing here in Ireland is that there are no open places to go like a Swinger bar which would amazing to meet people.

It’s your right to invite who you want. But this person who said that is right though, if you invite only who you know and always the same people. It’s cliquey alright. Just own it!

Definitely invite who ya know but I can also understand that it can be difficult coming into a group who know each other. It's a fair bit of feedback but it doesn't warrant any drama. Parties are very tricky, you want to get it right for your guests and yourself.

Like any social setting

Takes time to get to know people

If it's your first 2 or 3 or more party with people who you have only met for first time a hour ago it's not easy to break the ice not really the hosts fault either so to be fair it takes time to feel comfortable in new company

Took us a few to realize that everyone is same nervous as fuck when you walk in the door

And you start chatting to someone you never met before or someone who was playing at the last one and you were to shy to say hello to but are really nice when you get chatting to them

As for blaming host or clicks that's how it is if people already know each other and it's not a deliberate thing

We certainly would like to think anyone hosting a party would only invite people they or some of there friends know to be sound out

Fair play to anyone who makes the effort to organize a party

There is some amount of work involved to get everything right is probably not possible

Most parties we have attended have been held by people we have already met at a social night someplace previously so that's just how it works

Looking forward to the next party night with new friends and old ones from previous ones

Invite who ya want. The People moaning about cliques and not been invited to party's are the same people who make very little effort or have a sense of entitlement being in the lifestyle, forget them . We've party's where we invite the people we'd like there and a few wild cards. These are the people we take a risk with that are either recommended by people we trust or have met ourselves socially. Some have worked out and some haven't.
