It was originally meant to be a full final season but the creator had too much story for one season. He made the decision to do a season 3 and picked what he figured was the best place to pause season 2. That's why it stopped at 7. Good news is that S3 will be this coming year.

Watched 3 episodes last night with my son he watched the other 4 today while I was working was very disappointed he said it felt too much like just a re hash of the first series (which we loved)

If that's the case, happy days then. I was dreading that S3 would be a few more years
