Far far away

I just wanted to applaud and acknowledge those working in retail and hospitality. Christmas brings stress, long hours with little time off.

I duly acknowledge all those other sectors that don't get a break either like healthcare.

Go raibh maith agaibh.

So glad I'm not on that side of retail anymore. The horror stories friends have been sharing the last week has really made me rethink my opinion on a lot of people. Remember it's not their fault you decided to leave it to the last minute to do your Christmas shopping.

maybe they didn't have time earlier? maybe they complain because people like to complain about everything? maybe they want to buy fresh food? maybe they planned to spend Christmas alone but suddenly their plans changed? Is it worth thinking about it at all?

I agree, it's definitely worth thinking about.

What I'm seeing is it's better to go at peak hours because everyone has the idea to go first thing in the morning. Christmas Eve is also better than the 23rd.

It's worth listening to the complaints so that you can arrange to go at a different day/time.

Brings back a memory when I managed a deli years and years ago... one year we decided to close it for 2 days. Some cunt waffle face came into the shop on 26th and ranted to the owners how he expected to be served a fry and now his family have nothing to eat for breakfast as the deli is closed. Owners made me open it the following year. Same cunt waffle face came in with a shit eating grin and had the cheek to ask me if I had a nice Christmas. I just gave him the look that would sour milk and replied "no, because I had to get up at 5am to serve you some sausages. Hope you're happy"

He did complain about my attitude too. Not a single fuck was given.

I spent the past few weeks screamed at and abused for simple things like requesting balances paid for deliveries to be shipped and for not having stock in that they desperately needed for xmas. People turn into absolute cunts this time of year for no reason and already expecting a torrent of abuse when we reopen after Xmas once more. Should be a law that everyone works retail to learn to show respect to others because regardless of what people think it's one of the most thankless jobs ever

It is the silly season. The amount of people who said we must have X at Xmas we have it every year. Get all worked up if it is not there.

The amount of food which is wasted.

You would want some patience working retail over Christmas. Wait till Friday when the headreckers bring back the jumper or other that they bought and now don't need it.

My father died at Xmas time and I never was one Christmas prefer Easter. Stay safe everyone and have a nice Christmas

There is absolutely no reason to retract what you said, just because some people are being pedantic. The sentiment in your comment is what matters.

I live up north now and I still call it Stephen's day and no one has ever been so petty to point out that the majority of people up here call it boxing day. And I only call it Stephen's day out of habit I don't do it to annoy anyone, the same as you didn't mean any harm.

And yes fair play to all those who work in retail and hospitality at this time of year as they can quite often get so much abuse from cockwombles who do it just because they know they can't be called out on it by the worker.

It’s becoming a society that every day will soon be the same Christmas Day whatever. Times are changing rapidly. 20 yrs ago you wouldn’t see a car on the road Christmas Day or very few even Boxing/Stephens day

That has all changed

Next we will see pubs open on Christmas Day like in the uk or up north.

It’s becoming the new norm unfortunately.

Fair play to you people who have no choice but to work on those days without choice

They should be applauded and respected .

Next we’ll have Santa 🎅 arriving in an E sleigh 🛷 no reindeer no more 🙈

"I just wanted to applaud and acknowledge those working in retail and hospitality. Christmas brings stress, long hours with little time off.

I duly acknowledge all those other sectors that don't get a break either like healthcare.

Go raibh maith agaibh.

Well said....I work in a customer service job myself and I have to say the attitude of a lot of the public leaves a lot to be desired especially in the last few years, basic manners and courtesy is gone with a lot of people nowadays unfortunately
