I wish Xmas was over. It's such a lovely and depressing time for us single people. I'm sure there's plenty more people like me that would like some company

somewhere

its too late to offer your services to any local charity that needs help on Christmas day as you probably need Garda clearance nowadays but you could try next year

Or even volunteer for a charity that visits older people that live alone

It's very worthwhile and can take your mind off things

Home alone Xmas day myself. Not sure what the build up inside me is. Xmas day alone or no work to do. I’m going with no work to do because I do enjoy my own company.

Reach out to friends and tell them that you find it lonely. I’m sure they would be more than happy to include you in their celebrations.

If that’s not an option, treat it like a duvet day. Get snuggled up with your favourite food and movies and make it a self care day.

No more than a lot of people hating new years, you’ve got to reframe your thinking about it and turn it into the kind of day you can enjoy. That doesn’t need to look like a traditional day.

Why not arrange a meet with someone from here for a social stroll on Christmas day? Bring a flask of coffee and shoot the breeze. If that's not your thing what about doing a Christmas morning dip? There's loads of people like those and they're a bit of craic. Or take a hike somewhere scenic and enjoy being outside (safely). Invite friends or a loved ones over to yours that morning for coffee or drinks in the evening or go mad and do a lovely dinner for someone.

On a serious note, lean into your friends and family. We all get caught up with the madness of it all and I think we could all make an effort to share our time and presence, especially with those who are alone or grieving over Christmas.

Merry Christmas OP. I hope this one is good to you. 🎄

I can't wait for Xmas to be over and I have friends and family to spend time with, but choose not to. Never bothered me being on my own Xmas day when single, it's no different to any other day off alone. I just have no interest in the day (sorry season) and the way it's forced into our lives. Roll on Stephen's day and the start of holiday ads with sunshine and a promise of good things to come! Now that gets me excited. C
