Time wasters/Pullouts

Does anyone else feel like this site is 90% fake accounts, time wasters or people who just want to talk about their fantasy rather than do it?

I imagine this is even worse for women as there's so much more men on here but why join a site like this, build a connection, arrange a meet and then just ghost the person?

Everyone has a right to change their mind at any stage that's perfectly understandable and I'd never try to convince someone otherwise but these days it's easier to get a meet on tinder than it is on here haha

Do people agree or is it just me haha?

At the risk of being repetitive, I've been here almost 9 years and never once had a no show or engaged with a fake profile so I would say you've got your percentages back to front.

I'm glad to hear you have had such a positive experience on fab

I'm new enough but the amount of men who message me pretending to be a couples page is unbelievable haha.

We don't generally have problems with time wasters as they are easy enough to spot. Pullouts though.... I prefer not to where possible

Yes ghosting and dropouts happen. Yes I've had it happen to me on more than one occasion. No it's really not nice. But no it's not 90% or anywhere near.

The majority of regulars here are sound and reliable. Over time you get better at scoping out the messers...

I probably exaggerated my numbers in fairness haha. I have found people that are on here longer will reply back to a message and say they're not interested or not meeting anybody at the moment which they don't have to do but I think it's nice of them. So you're probably right about the regulars.

You'll get better at spotting them when you're on a while

8 weeks isn't very long

Try get to a social

It's a great way to widen your circle of friends which can help you get meets

90% is definitely an exaggeration. There are fake profiles, as you said a lot of men that pretend to be couple (and straight man that are not straight😉) and yes, ghosting is happening.

But if you check verifications, how long people are on fabs, it’s enough to ensure you are dealing mostly with genuine people.

That's true, I am new to the scene and there's a learning curve in everything I suppose. I have had meets on here but verifications weren't something I considered as I don't check them myself. One person's experience can be completely different to mine as no connection is the same but I suppose from a safety stand point for women it makes sense so I'll try get a few sorted.

Thanks for the advice.

I just spent 2 days messaging somebody who was on here over a year with verifications even though they were hidden which turned out to be a man haha now that's probably a rare case but I can only speak on my experiences in the short time I've been on here

Have had my share of social & play meets and only ever had two cancellation/pull outs.

The ladies, both quite well known fabbers, probably figured they had gotten better offers....totally their prerogative.

Didn't earn either a block but definitely dropped them way down the fuckit list.

Cancelling I have no problem with because like you said they might find someone better suited or life gets in the way but I don't understand the endless messaging with no intention of ever meeting up. I don't want to waste anyone's time on here so if I don't see an attraction or if there isn't a connection I'll pull the plug straight away but some people just lead you on for the sake of it. Joys of online "dating" I suppose haha

There is a phenomenon, or even a kink, that we suspect is common amongst single men on fab, whereby their job is done/ satisfaction achieved by successfully landing a meet from the site - going to the meet is superfluous to their enjoyment.

We used to think it was simply men shitting the proverbial bed that accounted for the late cancellations, ghostings, no-shows, stringing along, etc., but we now firmly believe that point to have been the objective rather than a reaction.

We had a last minute cancellation once again last week, where we again suspect his power play or ego massage or whatever was his goal all along.

Just don’t expect much. Everyone has a right to change their mind. Is it annoying? Absolutely. But life happens.

Check reviews, don’t waste a lot of time on endless chats. Suggest social meeting in a public place first.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Friends of mine on tinder will match a girl but never message her and I'm like what's the point and their answer is it's a nice confidence boost??

It might be for you but that girl could've been looking forward to seeing where things go with them, you shouldn't play with people like that.

I would think it's far more common with men but I've seen a fair share of it with women on here too.

100% agree and I'd never get my back up over somebody not wanting to meet or changing their mind, that's completely understandable but I think after a few days of getting to know each other and planning a date for a meet, if it was me and I changed my mind I'd explain it to the person but again nobody owes me anything on here so it's all part of it I suppose.

Borderline

Just had one today from a woman relatively new to the site. Arranged a meet late afternoon. Checked in at lunchtime and all was good. Sent message before I left, which see looked at, but when I arrived half hour later I was blocked.

I know people may change their mind, but just let the other person know doesn’t have to have a reason, but it would save a lot of wasted time.

Had ye been speaking for a while before today? That's it, just give a bit of notice or be upfront about it if they changed their minds.

The West

I clean forgot I had a coffee date last Monday. She was very good about it.

We rescheduled for midweek and she had to cancel because she fell down the stairs and really hurt herself.

This Wednesday coming there may well not be an act of God and we'll get to meet.

Shit happens.

"Why would someone waste so much time and not turn up"

Because:

⛔️ they are attached

⛔️ they freaked out

⛔️ Irish people avoid uncomfortable conversations

⛔️ they were just boosting their ego

⛔️ they don’t look anyway near their photos

⛔️ they were just bored

We had this problem over the weekend, we advised well in advance that we were in Belfast for the weekend and looking for company, two couples had arranged to meet us and one female, all well verified, for drinks at different stages of the weekend, all 3 pulled out last minute, was it genuine, nerves, did a better option present its self to them, we don't know, but it is very disheartening after putting in the effort to chat swap face picture's arrange times to meet the anticipation just to be let down, we may just stick with arranged group socials from now on
