Obviously we know its a small place and most people will know someone you know, but do you think ireland is too small for swinging? See the same faces alot or see people you know and not much newbies?

There'll always be people that you see often at events but I've found there will also be lots of new folks too.

And if you vary the socials that you go to also, there'll usually be faces that are new to you.

Started attending socials in the kink scene, and yeah I think Ireland is too small, but it's getting bigger like said above. Other countries do have alot more going on, but suppose we will eventually get there. In the other side or it, I suppose it's safer when people start knowing each other, becoming friends. But yeah hope to see more in the coming years.

So what if you meet someone you know. Why is there so much shame around one’s sexuality? Swinging is just about jumping into bed with everyone you meet. It’s about joining a community of like minded people. Some you might play with, some you might become very good friends with and never play with them. Some you might never see again. Personally this lifestyle to me is meeting people that you can be open with. Feeling free to express yourself without much judgment. Going to socials and meeting new people. Unfortunately there is too many people on here that think swinging is all about sex. Use this lifestyle right and before you know it you’re involved in a wonderful community of people. So what of you meet someone you know. I couldn’t give a shit what anyone says about me. It’s my life and I’ll live it in a way that makes me feel happy.

What’s the definition of small?

Ireland is far too small in terms of population of active swinger couples to support a commercially viable swingers club if the prevalence of them in UK and on continent is anything to go by.

For us, Ireland is much too small minded to be open about our sexual desire for group fun.

Wouldn’t say Ireland is too small that we’re constantly running into people we know from vanilla life in this scene/ lifestyle, but it has happened.

There is a very limited pool of likeminded people who fit our criteria, and us their’s. We’d certainly like more matches, but who wouldn’t.

It's not that Ireland is too small, .. it's just that we live in a very conservative country, where swinging would generally be frowned upon, and neighbours will gossip maliciously about you. On the Scottish forum, there are active swinger communities on the outer Hebrides and Orkney !

Ireland is still in 2024 perceived as being a very conservative and religious country and sex is not talked about let alone performed outside of marriage. What a stupid perception to have !, no place-country is too small to engage in swinging or sexual activities its more a question don't get seen and don't get caught.

Sex in what ever form it takes is just a natural human need function so my thoughts are simple engage enjoy it's great Craic to hell with the neighbours go for it, because for all you know they are doing the bloody same

By small, you'll probably run into someone who is an acquaintance or a friend of a friend. but usually there is mutual respect and people have no reason to out you if you're all at the same events.

Fab does have a fair few cheaters though, so I think of you're swinging as a single, but are playing away without permission, you're playing with fire.

Swinging and cheating are not the same thing though.

We think it has just moved with times. In past for us we played in France and NL clubs and lots of day saunas for mixed sex in Paris that I do t think have arrived here yet. Fun4 Two in NL still our favourite but Paris brilliant too. Think Dublin could support some lifestyle play venues at this stage given increasing diversity in population

There is a big difference between being a single male or female and being a married couple on the scene, so I'm not surprised that some singles can't understand what the fuss is about.

There's also a (less marked) difference between being an Irish and being a non-Irish couple on the Irish scene. Irish people were often brought up by conservative, religious parents and are surrounded by conservative family and friends. Of course it will impact peoples desire to keep their swinging lives private.

Secondly, single males are viewed differently where sex is concerned. We may live in a so-called sex-positive society, but that doesn't extend to married couples. We are meant to be monogamous.

Thirdly, some single males have no regard for discretion and can't wait to brag to their friends about their sexual exploits. We try to give those types a wide berth.

Agreed. It's not confined to guys either to be fair, women have been known to be indiscreet. I know of a woman who outted a big social to anyone who would listen in a bar. Now that's indiscretion
