My preference is a coffee shop. Nothing fancy, just somewhere warm and comfortable!

Is it a lads thing, or do many of you prefer to meet at a petrol/service station?

Yep, just somewhere handy.

I've noticed lately lads suggesting a service station. One wanted to just sit in his car! Eh, no thanks! On both counts.

Honest to God, I'm laughing at the good of it! 😂

I like to get a coffee to go and walk and talk.

Removes the chances of others eavesdropping, no awkward silences, or direct eye contact.

Plus I get some exercise done as well.

Wherever both of us agree to really.

Prefer a coffee and a walk or a coffee in the car in a public place when both are comfortable.

Who on earth is meeting at petrol stations ??

I don’t really like coffee shops sometimes I find that you can’t speak openly about what you both want and are interested in. I prefer open public places on neutral ground with lots of people about. Plazas, popular parks, shopping centres. You can talk freely, its safe and if either of you aren’t feeling it you can just walk in any direction to get away!

As some people are travel via motorway, the service stations with coffee shops seem to be most suggested.

Coffee shop for me too. Somewhere easily accessible for both that has plenty of parking.

Often the ones who want to sit in the car are, shall we say, "shy" about being seen in public with a strange woman for whatever reason...

I had a close to bad encounter get with a Garda in my car before for a social meet. We were to meet up in Carrickmines and get a tea in Costa, but he jumped in my car and wasn’t for getting out of my car. I wasn’t feeling the vibe at all with him but he wasn’t for getting out of the car, so I had to get out of my own car until he removed himself. He was pure agro with me. Anyhow, alls well that ends well but lesson learnt, and I will never get myself into that position again.

Ah look I know they arent all the same, but I never want to be in that position again. I pulled my car up near his too, so it could have been crossed wires, but when he was getting in I said no get out and we will get tea- but sure it’s grand now. So yes, coffee meets in a cafe not in the carpark!

Costa for us...not for the coffee quality but because it's big and anonymous. A wee independent cafe has too many listening ears. Although Costa has that problem too at times. If it's warm enough at least you can sit outside.

I also feel safer parking in a big retail park and then my date doesn't necessarily know which car is mine.

Location for me has always been ladies choice, not everyone like a "coffee " but as long as you can get a decent chat in and feel safe and comfortable.

" I remember meeting someone once in their car in the carpark of a coffee shop and was uncomfortably dying for a p , felt odd when I had to go into the coffee shop buy a muffin ( to get the code ) so I could use the toilet, the lady taught I was soo cute for buying her a muffin, "😇😇😇😇😇

I generally prefer hotels to coffee shops cos they are more spacious so more conducive to private conversations..in Dublin my go to is castleknock hotel cos its convenient workwise or glasnevin cemetery has lovely coffee shop with ample outdoor seating and suits me location wise when I'm not working

I'd have no issue with a service station meet like Applegreen en route from galway but in the actual Costa shop not a hope I'm getting in a strangers car

My last coffee meet was in a local hotel. It was a busy evening, even in the lobby seating area. After I went to the toilet, I returned and sat in the chair closer to him as I felt we were talking loud to be heard across the table! He took that as a good sign that I liked him... a year later we are still together

Doesn’t have to be anywhere ‘fancy’, it’s just an initial social meet.

The follow up meet can be a lot more special/private 😜
