Day 8

Will likely regret this or have a laugh at the responses 🤪

So I've tried over the counter pain medication- it isn't working... what should I try next ???

There and Here

Have you tried a salty gargle?

Someone had to say it

Failing that, try drinking hot water infused with root ginger and sweetened with honey

I had a terrible cold a few weeks ago and the throat was killing me.

Only thing that helped was ice cream!

The cold soothes it really well.

Also soothers or halls if you can't stop coughing

Haven't got the ingredients for a salty gargle here atm but should be arriving later .... 😜

I do like a good root ... so will have a look out for ginger when out and about later 🤪🤪😜😜😜

No cough thankfully- just sore throat and body aches in the morning till I get going. I never get sore throats - like literally never - so not got a clue how to handle it. Have strepsils - will try ice cream - can't eat with it.

I find hot beverages are nice, but ice cream hits different, it really soothes the pain pretty much instantly. Hope you get better soon ❤

Propolis is great for throat pain, infections. I just use it pure, couple of drops. Taste a bit bitter but very effective

Genuinely though gargle slightly cooled boiled water with salt… the other salty gargle is more to distract you from the pain than to cure it😉😂

This!

Add the tiniest drop of cordial to the disprin/water and definitely swallow after gargling.

Also, a spoon of honey regularly is so soothing on the throat.

Good quality local honey is best.

Feel better soon x

Difflam spray, warm salt water rinse, and if you are finding it hard to swallow or feels like glass shards in your throat get an antibiotic. Some swear by manuka honey - the real stuff.

Meant to say, adding the cordial is great if you find the disprin/water mix difficult to take.

I think the question you need to be asking is why your sore throat persists.

The aforementioned treatments will relieve some of the symptoms.

Numbing the pain, reducing the inflammation etc.

If it's bacterial, you're going to need some targeted antibiotics and not the usual broad spectrum stuff.

There's a lot suggesting ice cream. I think I overdosed on that the other day and it didn't help the throat a bit.

On the plus, apparently my raspy, gravelly voice is quite sexy 😆

Gargle with mouthwash, every hour on the hour for as long as you can bear it.

The anti - bacterial mouth wash, kills the bacteria. You ll be feeling a lot better in 6 hours.

Agree with this, after 8 days it should have cleared, a trip to your doc might be in order.

Maynooth

It depends what you've been doing to clear it. First thing in the morning b4 you do anything, boil some water and mix this with some quality sea salt flakes, mix some cold water but keep it as hot as you can bear. Gargle this, like let it back to exactly where the pain is, spit it out and repeat this 3 times. Then drink a big mug of warm water with honey, grated ginger, the juice of half a lemon and a few cloves, if its nothing major then it will clear in 3 to 5 days. When was your last health check with a gp? Wishing you a good recovery.

Totally concur with the hot water, honey, ginger suggestion given above.

Another is to try gargling with 1 or 2 disprin tabs, only use a little water so its a concentrated solution.

Agree with this, I had an awful sore throat for days last week, went to the care doctor as my own doctor wasn't available at the time, had to take a sachet of stuff to gargle and swallow twice and day, did the job!! I had a bad cough also so I took some cough mixture recommended by the chemist, did the job eventually!!

Have tried almost everything over the past few days.

Almost tempted to try the "salty gargle/swallow" solution.

Original , gargle and spit it out, it kills the infection.

To soothe chop some onions finely and put them in honey , leave it for 24 hours then strain it , it's incredibly good for the throat, you can flavour it up with thyme or Rosemary or sage.

Coke to kill , honey to soothe.
