Probably for a lot of people it is.just my 5cents on it.

Lots of people have other life commitments outside of fab so I would think that trying to constantly arrange one on one meets can be draining, especially if they have to travel.

Added to that, cost of living is going up so many might do the social, meet lots of people and save time/money. Also it avoids time wasters, many people here have been burned by them in the past.

From socials, they can arrange one on one meets if they think something is there.

Not saying this is true for everyone, but I get the impression that it might be.

It's the easiest way to get known

Get to a coffee social chat to people .get your profile known

Socials are like having 20 coffee meets in one. Very time efficient. Why would you not want that?

You can still meet one to one of course, but you need to use your wit and charm to convince a lady that it's worth their time.

Good feedback so far. Looks to be socials are the only way forward.

That's what it looks like for us. Getting to meet people from messaging here seems a lot more complicated than we thought between finding the people in the first place, then finding common time for it with life getting in the way.

We have our first social at the end of November, so we'll find out soon enough.

The great thing about the socials is that if you connect with someone you're usually in the same hotel anyway

THIS

It's not the *only* way forward but it's so so so convenient and cost/energy effective

Socials are a bit like speed dating , as they say work the room.

Its hard to come across in text etc so meeting in person helps to make new contacts.

For me the socials are nights out with friends and possibly new one's. It also can be a relaxed environment where you can be yourself.

As for leading to future meets I've heard it works

I've met plenty of people 1 to 1. I actually like them. But I get that they aren't for everyone. I've been mostly lucky that people turn up and I've met some really great people at a 1 to 1 coffee/drink and as well at socials that I've stayed in contact with.

Social with no expectation is a good approach.

You ll meet nice, fun, welcoming people,.... And maybe the odd poopstirrer, but sure good to get them out of the way as well.
