Just looking through Jimmy Mc Carthy repertoire. He must be without doubt one of Irelands best song writers. When you look at the artists who are still singing his songs .

Paul Brady is another class Irish singer songwriter in my opinion.

I would say Declan rice is a modern day equivalent, wonderful somg writer and probably not give the credit he deserves, same goes for mark greaney of JJ72 two very underrated somg writhers also great singers

Hi rendition of Raglan Road is untouchable by any other artist.
