This Xmas I’ll be kinda alone. Only on Xmas day. Likely have my teenage children over that evening. No big deal to be honest not having the dinner with family. But I was thinking. Is there any Xmas get away breaks in Northern Ireland. Like check in on the 24th and check out say the 26th of 27th. Somewhere like Belfast and somewhere that there is a pub life on.much rather sit at home Xmas in front of a fire rather than a hotel room.I’d like somewhere that there is something on. Kinda rather get away so the children don’t have the pressure of trying to run from mammys to daddy’s house, so if daddy was away then they could all stay at home with their mum. I’ve priced a few places in the rep of Ireland but fuck me id have a week in Spain for prices over here plus the places I’ve priced are doing deals for family’s with kids. Much rather somewhere more so for adults and not having to listen to a pile of children

Have you spoken with your kids?

It might be something they actually enjoy and isn't the burden on them you see it as?

I agree...have the conversation with your children. Perhaps they're looking forward to spending Christmas evening with you. It's a first for them too don't forget, and I'm sure they'd appreciate being part of the decision making process rather than you deciding for them.

I actually didn’t think of doing that and thank you for pointing that out to me. Appreciate that

I think you’re right. Maybe it would be best I do rethink my plans

Hijacking your thread but dreading this NYE. It would have been my wedding anniversary but now divorced and my two kids will be with their dad. Just feeling sorry for myself

You're one of those people....

Making me put a suit in for a wedding on NYE after 2 straight weeks of stuffing my face.

It's easy to feel like we're a burden on people, but that's usually not the case at all Dom. Great that you've been encouraged to chat to the children and get their input too. It's not the easiest time of year for a lot of people. Day by day.

Ah sure slip over to Tedavnet with a few cans under your arms and we can drink the bit out. Maybe jacks might open the back door Xmas night for the locals 😂

There was a couple last year who ran a night in a pub on Christmas Day for people in exactly your position. It was just outside Belfast if I remember correctly.
