Between work, illness and parenting among other possible reasons do men also experience lulls in sexual drive?

Absolutely. Though I didn't experience any until I hit my forties.

I am finding the current lull a struggle but I want to be supportive so I thought I might ask a personal question on here to see if it's more common than I thought and maybe I can take it less personally if that makes sense

Some would say "just be a man" but it's tough when the test is low, trt is a god send and easy to do I know it's artificial but what's not these days, just go get it sorted!!!

The biggest lull in my libido came through emotional exhaustion due to circumstances requiring all my energy to be at home. I had nothing to give or share with anyone else and just lost the desire. It lasted about six months.

It's difficult to not take it personally at times especially if I'm initiating play time but I also want to be understanding....maybe if he had a chat with his GP....who knows but knowing it's more common than I previously thought does help me a little. I know this sounds silly and uneducated but I thought men's sex drives lasted well into old age not 49

I was that bad I went and got a testosterone test done. Low testosterone is very common in men of all ages and is a very simple fix most of the time. Chat with your GP.

Turned out I was just stressed from work so I changed jobs and I was back to being a walking hormone in no time

Lack of libido in men and women is usually a symptom of some underlying issue. It can be mental of physical. A visit to a gp could help. For example diabetes in men can cause a lack of libido.

I'll maybe bring up a visit to GP for testosterone level check up as that could be a contributing factor...as well as life's stresses

Yes, absolutely, for a variety of reasons.

If you think there’s a particular reason then you’re probably right, the good news is you have probably already narrowed it down a lot, but it isn’t always they easy.

It's important to get him to a GP and get full bloods done, especially PSA. Loss of libido can be a prostate related issue, especially as he's nearly 50. Hopefully it's only a temporary blip!!

Everyone experiences dips, it’s natural. Your caring for kids, parents, wife, struggling in work, haven’t got a

Six pack or over 6 foot. You don’t look like Brad Pitt or George Clooney, bills pile up . Yep I certainly go though dips just like everyone here male and female

I suppose when those dips go on for a longer time than either of us would like it can be a bit scary because lack of intimacy is something that shouldn't go on for too long without a conscious effort to reignite the flame...thankfully we are very affectionate still. Thank you

Everything goes in ebbs and flows in life.

Getting medical opinion is always good but also take time to get back to yourselves. A little timeout, without child/family distractions, time to talk together, a yoga/joined massage treatment to relax you both beforehand might help.

Hope everything is good for you both

Thank you for the kindness..I felt the genuine vibration of what you said. Real life can be fast and tumultuous and although I'm not overly concerned about our relationship which is our first relationship since both of our divorces I am cautious that a lack of intimacy doesn't lead to relationship breakdown. I am feeling vulnerable putting this post up but in a way it's been so helpful to minimise negative self talk which we all know our inner critic is the toughest critic of them all
