"It's funny you should bring this up OP because I was just thinking if I was The Boss I'd be giving everyone the day off to enjoy the sunshine " Like when the bishop came to visit us in school. No homework that evening. Woohoo

"I would replace minimum wage and jobseekers with a baseline living wage for all. Change the roles of social welfare officers so they are in Medical, educational and job centres informing people of their rights and supports rather than the current model which makes people almost afraid of them so they miss out on vital supports. Introduce dog parks in every town. Free housing in Dublin and other low accommodation areas for anyone entering chronically vacant essential roles - medicine, education including childcare educators etc Audit the road network and put A&E facilities including maternity withing 40 minute drives of each other around the country and increase helicopter travel capability between them and larger hospitals. Add 24 hour youth cafes to every town with supports and games facilities including emergency sleeping areas. Develop DV accommodation for all. Remove urinals from all toilet blocks and create urinal blocks instead allowing for non gender specific toilet/baby changing facilities in our public areas ... I could go on and on .... " I'd put Samantha Jones in charge.

"Reform our education system to cater for different academic abilities rather than the memory test we have now, ensure everyone has equality of opportunity in education not just equality of access " We have the LC which is academic in certain areas but many subjects are project orientated- all practical subjects contain 20% upwards to 80% project only. The languages are not just memory due to the aural element which requires listening and deciphering. Maths is now 'project maths' looking at life skills versions of maths. LCA is primarily project based and most definitely not memory orientated- very much skills based with projects in both 5th and 6th year. There are various entries into 3rd level with opportunities for every level of education - Further education and training/Post Leaving Certificate/Access courses/Apprenticeships - many if these do not require a leaving cert people just need to be of a certain age. Many more academic courses are also accessible once someone is 23 with an alternative entry or minimum subjects not points orientated entry. We now have many online degree courses to facilitate those who cannot afford the trip to more expensive cities. We have allowances in lots of areas to facilities the high cost of fees. Education has had huge overhauls already with more set for September next year.
