GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

Any of you have good first fab social ideas for those that don't go to pubs?

A walk was great in the summer, bowling is good for couples to get to know eachother in between turns.

What do you normally do?

(Not totally teetotal but not had a drink this year)

wouldn't you like to know

Don't drink, especially when the outing is fab related.

Very rarely have one or a shot that's offered.

Social anxiety made me worry that I'll use it as a crutch, so I decided not to.

Never bothered me too much anyway. And no hangovers and no blackouts does have their advantages.

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

Neither wifey nor I drink alcohol on meet.we’ve always felt those who need alcohol to ‘get through’ a meet shouldn’t be doing this in the first place.

Coffee and a cake. Warm, easier to talk, smells good.

Rarely a dinner. Don’t want to put much pressure on a guy at a first meet. Few times museums and galleries.

Near Belfast

I have the odd drink but usually drive when out, so I stick to juice. Likewise if attending any sort of fab meet.

Saying that, I am off to Spain next weekend and a few cocktails 🍸 will pass my lips 💋

A good few are off the drink for many years. I've thought about it myself.

To be honest, I enjoy a pint but they are so few and far between, hardly any point going off it at this stage!

I usually try to go for a walk somewhere nice.

Went to art galleries recently.

Been sea swimming a few times.

Most recently I had someone over to play board games.

I much prefer an activity than sitting across a table face to face trying to make small talk.

I drink when I go to socials and most of time get d*unk and I will not apologise for it as socials are my little break away from reality. I don't go to socials looking for the ride I go to have a good laugh . When I do social meets it's normally a tea and good chat...

So take from it as u will I don't intend to change who I am.. 🤗🤗

Vast majority of the socials, partys and meets we attend we don't drink.

Occasionally we might drink at a party event if staying at the event or nearby.

It's far from a requirement and neither of us drinks much when we do.

I’m a drinker but it’s so rare that I drink nowadays that I’m effectively a non drinker. My wife never drank, and I reckon it’s rubbed off on me over the years. Don’t miss it in day to day life at all.

It’s quite refreshing to see so many on here are similar. Not what I would have expected.

Havin that said if it effects their work or play it's time the took a side step tbh..

I'll take a drink if I'm out at a gig or the pub in sayin that I'd say most of you would spill more than I'd consume..

Seen a lot of sad cases to last me my day.

I enjoy trying out different craft beers and stouts and I like a pint bottle of Guinness if I can find a pub that stocks them.

But I have also witnessed lots of sadness and hurt caused by people who could not control their use of alcohol.

Everything in moderation.....

Personally l totally dislike alcohol, it's absolutely each to their own & l fully respect people that do like alcohol but it's not for me & never will be.

I certainly would not be able to get to gigs or shows or any thing else around the Country if l drank, tbh it's a great feeling just to be able to hop into your car & not have to worry about how you're gonna get there or how you're gonna get back. I used to ..used to.. feel that l because l didn't drink l didn't " fit in " ..F**K that ,am just so glad l don't tbh , like l said ,gigs .. a walk on the beach ..climb a mountain, sports , cinema, it don't matter, alcohol can stop any of these for me , I'm just so glad it doesn't.

the right side of the river

Non drinker and I know plenty of people who don’t, especially those who used to race, (also know plenty who take up the slack and drink our share also)

I go to pubs etc and often people will ask would I like a drink or as they are going to the bar and when I politely decline then I get the oh are you not well, or the discreet whisper in my ear of “I can sort you out with a few quid if you are short, don’t worry about it “ or oh I never knew you were a raging alcoholic in recovery, (I’m not, I just never started drinking and enjoyed spending my money on things that go fast ha ha)

It’s actually more common than most people imagine, the not drinking that is.

I know one guy that not only a non alcohol drinker but doesn’t drink tea, coffee, fizzy drinks. He runs 10k every day.

Does one glass of wine a month, or even longer, qualify and that is only with a meal.

Sober social is a great idea.

I have done:

Walks - along sea fronts and hillwalking

Swims in both sea and lakes.

Cycled

Kayaking - am still a bit of a novice at this.

Classic car show.

Yoga class

Wander around castles and places of architecture. The OPW have some great places to visit.

Go for a drive, combine some of the above, have a meal, snack or whatever and just enjoy the moment.

Just be normal, relax and enjoy the company.
