I just reviewed my block list, only a guy that has been a dxxk on his messages, not going to give him a second chance. I rarely block people on socials, if I do it there is a reason for that.

I used to have a fairly large block list but I cleared it at Christmas, as a goodwill gesture.

I now have only 3 couples and 2 guys blocked for sending abusive messages.

Judicious use of filters and a thick skin are your best friends on fab to keep you from finger strain due to over use of the block button.

I have Blocked people.

But I have also unblocked people too.

If I block it is usually because of rude messages.

I would never block someone just because I'm not interested.

But I can see how some would use it as just another filter.

Not everyone gets blocked because they have been abusive.

Some people resort to using the block button when they should have been more careful with their filters in the first instance which would have prevented them from receiving unwanted messages.

The block button can also be used by people as a power trip device which is in itself a subtle form of abuse.

I don't think it's abuse.

It's up to everyone to decide how they use it.

There's no such thing as overuse. Just use of a tool.

There is no power trip with blocking.

They can be people that don't match what you're looking or people you've found unlikeable or abusive.

The block button is the best filter on Fab.

You seem to have had a lot of issues with being blocked. I have 40 plus on my block list. Well over half of those are people I've never spoken to but we have nothing in common and blocking keeps them out of my local updates.

Others I've never spoken to either but I don't like their forum attitude or the fact they have made forum comments in the past hinting at how well we know each other through fab despite the fact we have never exchanged a single message.

That leaves maybe 10 that are just complete arseholes with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I'm struggling with how you could see any of that as a failure on my part or any form of abuse?

I actually see it as a very positive approach so I have to assume you are talking about your own experiences which you do quite often in regards to the block button?

Yes I relate to this. I want to meet single men and so I don't filter them but with the block button I can filter out those I know I wouldn't get on with. My blocklist is huge.

.................

Obviously I can only relate my own experience and would not presume to speak on behalf of others.

The block button can be used to prevent annoying, abusive, unsuitable or uninteresting people from contacting you, and I have used it for this purpose myself.

My point is purely that not everyone who gets blocked has been abusive.

But they don't have to be abusive

I reckon 50% of my block list are too young

40% have written shite I fundamentally disagree with so blocked

10% have been abusive to me in the forums

Don't bother normally replying to the abusive ones just block and forget

Fuck them ...just another random stranger on the internet ....don't need validation from them.
