I think there are definitely pictures that don't accurately show someone. That means both pics that look better than reality, and those that look worse. It's depends on the photo rather than the person

Yes and no.

I've met people that look nothing like their pics, or the pics are a few years older.

I'm honest from the start about my size, don't use filters abd a face pic is currently how I look

Filter's and makeup are magical for some people on here, generally people just see the body before the face, some people are crap at selfies me included, ive been sent facepics that ive not at that time been attracted to yet in person they look better, its all about the angle and good lighting taken good pictures.....

I've definitely been very attracted to several people in person that I wouldn't have been interested in based on a face pic. Some people have a charisma that hooks me. It's nothing I can predict. So I don't ask for face pics. I have to meet someone to truly know...

It has went the other way for me before, when I received a face picture I was not attracted to them but I met the person later at an event and it was completely different. It was the way she walked with confidence and a cheeky look made all the difference.

Sometimes they add too much. Bad light and bad angles and bad cameras.

And some people just don't like taking selfies. I know I grimace.

So I'm the same. Prefer to meet without face pics. I'll send if asked but I don't usually ask.

A lot of men take bad selfies. A genuine nice smile, and twinkly mischievous eyes are v attractive. You don't always capture that in selfies.

I find that if I'm taking a selfie its better with the lights out

I enjoy the fact that I haven't got a clue what most people look like until I meet them face to face

My mind allocates them a look and then if I finally meet them my mind replaces the image I had of them with what they actually look like

Prefer no face pics in advance

This 👆👆👆

It's fun to anticipate the social, having no clue what they look like. It adds to the excitement

We'd only meet if we clicked with the messaging so we know we'll at least have a decent chat and the social won't have been for nothing if there's no attraction.

It's personality that makes someone attractive or not, you can't see that in a pic.

And yes I know they can be misleading but still it's an important step for me.

Although I do remember back in the day arranging a few dates with girls who's number you got on a night out and not having the vaguest recollection of what they looked like.

Standing outside McDonald's pretending to recognise 3 or 4 people until the right person walked up..

I prefer to meet in person than rely on face pics or the fantasy that's being portrayed in a profile. I've been catfished before and it wasn't pleasant.

I never give my face pic. I've had people refusing to speak to me because of this. Not because they're annoyed with my boundaries but simply they need to feel attraction to a face pic before investing their time. That's fair.

Bet yes OP, I find attraction and connections with people when I meet them that doesn't always translate in their profiles or photos. I love that about fab and RL.

A face photo isn't 100% perfect as a way of knowing if there's any attraction between 2 people ....its just the starter with the main course to follow

However no matter how good a person looks if they have a terrible personality then nothing will ever happen so there's not going to be any desert

I’m of 2 minds about face pics… didn’t used to send but I have recently and got turned down after… so really maybe it’s a good thing as it saved me from wasting my time…

Personally I prefer meeting people because I’m rarely attracted to a face pic and some men I met and really liked, I might not have met them if I had seen their pic…

Attraction is a funny thing…

That said I ask for face pics… to see how serious people are… so many men playing games on fab!

One of the problems as a man on fab is when I say I don't exchange facepics and have never asked for one, some people associate that with a willingness to fuck anyone whereas the opposite is actually true.

When I'm meeting I don't exchange pics because I chat for weeks or months before agreeing to a social and physical attraction often isn't relevant because I know beforehand that it will only ever be a social.

The only reason for sharing a pic is so we will recognise each other in the coffee shop.

I've never met anyone on a one to one social who didn't look like their pics but I have had people at group socials introduce themselves and there is no way in hell I would have picked them out of a lineup because their pics are obviously filtered to fuck.

Have to agree with this. While I've no problem swapping a facepic, there is the undeniable thrill of mystery when you meet someone without knowing what they look like.

Obviously I understand the safety concern for women so it's a tricky one. No hard and fast answer I feel.

Take honest pics and maybe down play the picture, better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. Especially if someone has the irreversible look of disappointment on their face when they meet you in person lol.
