Hey I am due to go to Belfast Sunday for a week and have a hotel booked in the Cathedral Quarter. Is it still ok to be staying there given what's going on or should I look to book outside of Belfast city?

Northern Ireland

I think Cathedral Quarter would be ok. The trouble seems to be around Shaftsbury Square. There's a planned 'protest' apparently around there. There is an Islamic Centre there so it might be the focus of the racists

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest

I was in Belfast at the weekend and didn't notice anything out the ordinary

Dublin/Belfast

It’s relaxed during the day at the moment and as long as you stay away from the City Hall area when the weekend comes you’ll be fine. Cathedral Quarter is a fair jaunt from that and you loads of other places to go… Belfast is such a great place, people need to visit more from the south…

You will be absolutely fine. There is a planned protest on Friday. For us Belfast people what's happening at the minute is child's play compared to what it used to be.

Horrible to see such vitriol directed directed at people because the colour of their skin.

Belfast and Fife

Sure, if it all kicks off all the more reason to stay in and have a party in your hotel room.

You will be perfectly safe in that area and most areas at the weekend. If you have any concerns nearer to the time please feel free to DM. You are more than welcome to our vibrant and friendly city, enjoy! x

Well said. Come one, come all, it's a great, fun place.

(No guarantees on the weather though, sorry)
