Alicante Spain, and Cork City Ireland

How does respect look to you?

Reading between the lines of profiles and comments, it seems to me, that what qualifies as respect, is different to different people.

Is everyone deserving of respect from the off?

Is it earned?

Is it both?

Do you get respect here?

Do you feel disrespected here?

There are so many questions that could be asked.

What I would love to see is, people writing what respect means to them. How it looks and feels.

A superficial surface level respect it tentatively given to people I don't know well. Real respect is earned.

I only respect people who respect others.

I don't care how you identify or what colour your skin is but if you talk down to me or others you don't deserve my respect.

I respect those who treat the person on the till or the person sweeping the streets as an equal and speak to them accordingly.

I won't be disrespectful to anyone from the off but they have to earn my respect.

As my profile says I'm always mannerly and respectful and that includes on here.

For that reason I know that what I say and do on here is respected by some but not by others.

Funnily enough it's those who expect a different level of respect based on their fab profile or their perceived standing in the "community" who get upset when they don't receive it.

Just be a decent human being and you will get the level of respect you deserve.

Being a cunt will also bring the level of respect you deserve.

A nice rock

There are two defined meanings of respect, and about an infinite amount of peoples versions of respect.

I try not to trod on people's feelings as much as possible, I don't always succeed at that and with some people I dint try very hard.

For me to hold someone in high regard respect wise takes me seeing a quality in them that I can respect in that sense of the word

We respect everyone. Everyone gets a chance with us. Initially.

After that I respect the actions I see, and that's it!

Peace and love ❤️

In general I will show everyone good manners, an open mind and a tendency towards kindness. Common decency I'd call it.

I would always show good manners and respect to others. It was the way we were brought up.

To people I know and trust, they have earned a deeper level of my respect. It is not something that is equally shared in life. Here on fab people talk about respect, but some have no idea of its true meaning. If I feel I've been disrespected then that person loses my trust and that's something they may never get from me again. Respect is treating someone in the same way you would like to be treated yourself.
