If you took out all the time wasters fakes and people just looking for a quick bunk up how many genuine swingers do you think there would be in Ireland I really don't understand why if you aren't a genuine swinger why you are here just had a guy message me saying that it's so hard for guys on here yet I asked him had he tried going to any of the socials he said he was too shy if you are too shy toeet someone socially how do you expect anything else to happen just don't get it think the name of the site needs to change as it's clearly not just a swingers site

I'm not a swinger I've never claimed to be but I've met some great people off here.

I don't see why others want to change the site to suit them and what they think it should be.

It's someone doesn't want to go to organised socials on here I don't see why the should be expected to.

Yes it might increase their chances of meeting someone they like but it's definitely not a guarantee either.

I don't really see how somebody being too shy to go to an organised social would have any bearing at all on whether they would show up to a one to one meet.

The name of the site is just that a name at this stage .People are on here for many different reasons. I've always found it easier to stick with those who have a similar outlook to mine and let others enjoy the site the way they want to.

Surely if he has messaged though he has made an effort. Albeit probably a small one.

I know I'm pretty shy and I know that there is no way I would have gone to my first organised social alone the thought alone would have made me balk at going on the night.

I've never had a issue meeting anyone one to one though,so I don't see how both are thought to be the same.

And of course you can write your opinions on here that's exactly what the forums are for. I don't see where anyone said you can't. Just because not everyone will agree on things just adds to the discussion and I don't see why it always taken personally when they don't. I think it's good to see different points of view.

I have joined to learn about the scene, I have been to socials. I have met some great people. But right now I don't think I am ready for a MMF scenario for example. Whether that be my emotional state, performance anxiety or just plain nervous. So I would never call myself a genuine swinger. I am just hoping to make some good connections.

But it can be hard for new single guys here, they are stepping out of their comfort zone. Some have unrealistic expectations, some need to learn the rules of engagement and some don't realise the ratio of women to men here and the need for patience.

Fab suits different people in different ways.

As in life, we all have different wants and needs, plus personal circumstances, personalities, and confidence will affect attendance at socials.

I have been off and on the site for several years and chatted to and met guys when suited and have never attended a social as it is not my scene. I don't think any of my meets have either.

Not knocking them, just saying they are not the be all and end of the site.

Yes it is harder for a single guy. With allot of people on here not seeking that and looking for something that meets their needs which is complete fair. And then with the timewasters and fake profiles who have no intention of ever meeting anyone. These can make definitely make you ponder the question the OP raises.

However, I have to say, yes it can be frustrating sometimes filtering through this. But, when you give it some time you will meet the genuine ones. I for one am very genuine and use this app exactly what it is for. And the hope is that eventually I won't have to filter through all the bullshit and build a nice network of the people who want it too.

We have met a few people in our time here and havs neved been to an organised social event as we were I won't say shy but cautious about who we may meet. Does that not make us genuine?. For us we prefer to organise a social with a couple or a few people together rather than a big social, that being said we are going to dip our toe into a social event this month just to see how we feel going forward.

I think people will approach it whatever way suits themselves, whether that be good or bad. A lot of men are here for quick hook-ups, and complain when the site doesn't meet their requirements! They won't attend socials as that requires some effort on their part. Which is obviously and outrageous expectation!

I see lots of couples that are rampant swingers and cant get enough of it, practically every week and others that dip in and out a couple of times a year when it suits.

It's difficult to define swingers, we'll all have our own interpretation.

I think you hit the nail on the head!

Love of sex is what brings people here. It's the common denominator. There is a huge variety of possible expressions and desires to do with sex.

Recently I found out who the originators of this site are. They lived here in Spain on the Costa Blanca for a number of years. They started a whole heap of things here too. I don't think they are upset that their site is being used in non swinger ways.

I don't consider myself a swinger, even curiosity about swinging brought me here. Swinging in it's truest form is for couples, (as I understand it). However this site still works for singles like myself and others. Across all spectrums. We all have preferences and lines we don't cross or rarely cross etc.

As long as decency respect and grace is given by everyone here, it all works.

I'm not a swinger and I have zero interest in "the scene".

This isn't a lifestyle choice for me, it's a hobby and nothing more.

I have been to socials and wouldn't be in a rush back to one.

They are always used as the default setting for someone to get a verification if they are struggling but telling someone they aren't genuine if they have no interest in learning sign language to communicate in a disco seems strange.

One to one meets for me have always been much more attractive and a much better way of getting to know someone.

Ah…… none of us here are swingers. Personally I’m just on here for tips on how to improve my knitting techniques, while perving pictures and videos…. Occasionally chatting with others who have the same love of knitting.

I think we all do this differently. Some people love the socials and the bigger parties, others prefer 121s, some like to meet couple to couple, some are looking just for women or just for men………

To say not going to social doesn’t make one a swinger then, whoop we’re not swingers. Over the 17 years online we’ve only ever been to 3 socials. They just aren’t our cup of tea. We prefer smaller more intimate relaxed meets where we can chat properly to who we are meeting and really get to know them properly.

We all have our own way to meet others, as others have said live and let live.

I agree with a lot of this.

It can be intimidating and daunting. I feel it myself, even as someone who's been to their fair share of social events. I'm fairly quiet and introverted - and I know there are people who'll disagree with that statement

but I'm like the proverbial swan, calm on the surface and legs paddling like bejaysus under the water - so I have to really push myself out of my comfort zone for socials. I'm lucky insomuch as I attend with friends and I usually will already know someone there. If I had to go on my own I'm not sure I would. But then again I don't think I'd class myself as a swinger. I'm more in the sex positive camp, who occasionally enjoys a bit of small group action.

It can be tough for single guys on here. Berating them for being too nervous or shy to attend socials really isn't helpful, and I'm not sure there's a direct correlation between how someone feels about attending socials and their ability to engage in great sex *shrug*
