Yeah for us I usually have a brief read threw our messages and tag them unread again for when we are together to reply.

I'll mark mine unread if I don't have time to reply. Or if I want to think about a reply. Or if I've opened it by accident and don't intend to reply.

"Or if I've opened it by accident and don't intend to reply."

Genuinely interested, why would you not want the person you do not intend to send a reply to know you’ve looked at their message? I’m sure there’s a more concise way of asking this

Personally, I’d prefer to know someone at lease read my message rather than being left unread.

I do this if I open one accidently especially since clicking on a profile name now opens the message rather than the profile.

I'll mark it unread again even if I'm not going to reply because I've had follow up messages asking why I read it and didn't reply or who do I think I am anyway that I couldn't take the time to reply.

Gorey, Enniscorthy

I read all the few messages I got and I reply to all.

Even the guy that messaged me for the third time, when it’s clear in my profile that I’m not interested in single man, he got a reply.

I think it’s ok to spend few seconds for a reply but I fully understand people that are getting tons of messages and answer only the interesting ones.

Just read them and mark them unread so the other can see them.

Have lost all interest in messaging recently. So whether read, unread or marked unread I wouldn't read anything into it!

As a fella, I obviously get less messages then the women and couples on here. Still there are times I mark unread, if I have read them on the run and am not sure of my reply etc.

Otherwise I read and reply occasionally reply and block (rarely, It must be said).

As RB has already alluded to, reading and not replying often leads to unwanted follow ups.

Exactly. It's good housekeeping. I do the same with Outlook in work. Mark it as unread until you action it.

I’ve been online on occasions and looking at my sent mail and seen one that’s unread, clicked on their profile and gone back to sent mail to see it unread. I’ll click their profile again and add a few lines to private notes and gone back to mail and deleted it. To me, if they’ve read and unread it, it’s highly unlikely they’ll read it again, particularly when we all know, single ladies receive so much mail.

If someone’s read my mail, they either want to reply or they don’t but I’m fairly sure they click onto the profile in ninja and checked out the profile too before they unread the mail.

Never even thought about it.

If I've read it, I've read it.

If I replied, it was worth doing so.

If not, it wasn't.

Simple

But if you’re not going to reply, what does it matter? “No reply is a reply” and all that. If someone insisted sending multiple messages surely they may do so weather read or unread? Or is that the boundary they are unwilling to cross?

Either way, I was just interested. Thanks for answering

If only one of us is on we often read messages and mark them unread so we can let the other half read them before we decide if we will reply or not

Often glance over them and don't have time to reply so mark the ones of interest unread so I can reply later.

I've never had a follow up message to one I've read and marked as unread again probably because they assume I haven't read it at all.

I have had messages though from certain individuals who aren't used to being turned down and feel they are entitled to a reply based on their perceived standing on fab. If the message shows as read but I haven't responded they don't like that and feel the need to call me out on it.

I don't need their need for validation or have any interest in playing their games so it's much easier to just mark the message as unread and avoid the entitlement.

I generally want to reply to it later or show Nuts….unfortunately my memory is poop and I usually forget, Nuts marks them all as read every once in a while and then I may remember randomly one day and they get a message then…

Saying that, haven’t really been messaging much in a while, real world life’s been busy - Mrs

I like it when they delete it personally. Read leads to confusion. Even though I don't follow up on either. Technically nobody owes anyone anything.

In my mind there is.

I'm interested and I don't want to seem rude, but I don't have the mental capacity for a conversation right now, so I mark as unread
