The fact that you're on here asking about buying a boat makes me think that you should not buy a boat!!

Length is always the thing lol

Longer is always better, more comfortable ride.

Need the right length shafts too. Makes it a more stable ride lol

A Yam is always the safest bet, you don't want to be stranded.

If your in Donegal in a speed boat are you going to sea! First swell your a submarine, what's it for, pleasure, fishing, skiing!

40HP is not that big, 2 or 4 stroke, short or long shaft, serviced? Boat anti fouled, original gel coat?

No idea mate! But wrong thing to buy if you have no idea, trailer rules, mooring fees, servicing, boats are thirsty girls, a wife is cheaper

The whole point of buying a boat in the first place is to get the ladies nice and tipsy topside, so we can take em to a nice comfortable place below deck, and you know...

just over the way from

Tbh if its for skiing 40hp wouldn't pull a duck up on its feet outa the water and I ant being funny, takes a 90hp to have a little criac with.

Outboards tend to be easily maintained and less weight overall.

I've had a few boats over the years and unless you plan on using it all the time a speed boat would not be a recommended choice.

Audi car steering wheel !!

Trailer looks more like a lake boat trailer, check for rust, check the suspension. Foam underneath to help it sit on trailer

Not sure if that would take much of a sea swell/choppy waters etc has it got a bilge pump to get rid of water coming over etc

Just looked again, doesn't seem to be any steering cables coming from the 40hp engine, so can only steer from the engine?

If it's only a grand then give it a miss,a decent 2nd 40hp outboard should set you back about 4000 at least.
