I was wondering if anyone here have a interest in archaeology or if the happen to work as a archaeologist.

I'm one myself I am curious to see if anyone here has is one as well or has a interest in the subject?

Otherwise the National monument service won't be happy about it

From what I know and have excavated, bronze age multi-vallate enclosures. Almost always circular in shape, were used as settlements for Human habitation.

The multi-vallate ditches were used for defensive purposes. And would have had a bank on the interior of every ditch with a wooden palisade on each.

But in the last 5/6 years or so. There have been about 4/5 multi-vallate enclosures excavated in Dublin and the surrounding country, that were sub-rectangular in shaped. Dating to the 9th/10th century CE.

And there is a possibility that they might have been built by the vikings of Dublin as they expanded there territory.

And it t seem like there were adopting the style Irish fortified settlement, (always circular).

But adding there own cultural ideas of defensive to it and making it there own

Apart from feeling as old fossil, I do like history, old shoite and scrap metal.

...oh and I am metal detectorist as well. But:

a/ do not tell the PhD's

b/ yes I know the law

c/ no, I do not 'treasure-hunt'

d/ learning about local history and then unearthing it is quite exciting
