"My wife keeps digging up the past (obligatory)" Ask here for a archaeological director's licence to undertake archaeological artifacts. Otherwise the National monument service won't be happy about it

"I'm following this thread with interest in case anyone can explain to me the purpose of bronze age multi-vallate enclosures because everyone I've asked has a different opinion I'm not an archaeologist myself though" From what I know and have excavated, bronze age multi-vallate enclosures. Almost always circular in shape, were used as settlements for Human habitation. The multi-vallate ditches were used for defensive purposes. And would have had a bank on the interior of every ditch with a wooden palisade on each. But in the last 5/6 years or so. There have been about 4/5 multi-vallate enclosures excavated in Dublin and the surrounding country, that were sub-rectangular in shaped. Dating to the 9th/10th century CE. And there is a possibility that they might have been built by the vikings of Dublin as they expanded there territory. And it t seem like there were adopting the style Irish fortified settlement, (always circular). But adding there own cultural ideas of defensive to it and making it there own I hope helped answer your questions. But I'm not an expert when it comes to them.
