Yes Linden has to be at least 500 yards from me at all times and is forbidden from taking part in an auction thread if I'm a prize. Also needs to present himself at the local cop shop when an auction is being run - Jaffa gives him 48 hours notice

Not knowing the reason doesn't mean there isn't one though! Don't take it personally, it's a useful function that helps make your version of the site better for you and I'd say 99% of users have used it. Move on to the next profile that you like the look of, and maybe try a different approach

I don’t see it as a big deal. I block for different reasons; they’ve been a twat on the forums, they’ve made a comment to someone that I think makes them a twat, offering or looking for cola, apple jack, black tar or anything along the lines, money and gifts or the late night ‘looking for a bi-male for my fella to suck on while I watch’, with a quick look at the profile where it says ‘only meet straight men’.

That’s along what I block for. God knows why others have blocked me!!!!

Anyway, everyone blocks for different reasons, that’s what makes those in the world unique. Be boring if we all did the same

We haven't seen a thread on the good ol "B" button for a while.

It can be a bit disconcerting when you get blocked without knowing the reason why. But I fully support the blockers absolute right to do so for whatever their reason may be and I see it as their loss at not getting the benefit of my wit and wisdom in the future.

Not being able to post on particular threads if the OP has you blocked as they may see it as an attempt to circumvent a block and report you, it does happened, limits full participation in some topics but if the OP has you blocked you are better off not massaging their ego by posting on what are often quite boring threads anyway.

And a block is not for life, I have been un-blocked by some people after we met at socials and they realised what they were missing out on by not engaging in an adult way with me and my quirky sense of humour.

Fab will never be as much fun as it could be for those with there heads stuck so far up themselves they can only look inwards and not see all the opportunity for fun that surrounds them.

Yes you are free to post on the particular thread.

But if the OP is small minded enough they can report your post to the site mods as being an attempt to get around the block and communicate with them and it could get you a ban.

No. You can post freely. So long as you stay on topic, don't try to circumvent the block and don't specifically refer to the block, even if the OP were to report you, you'd only receive a ban if you break forum rules

It's not against the rules to interact with someone who has blocked you here in the forums, as long as you don't solicit their attention on the forums to circumvent the block. They must stick to the forum topic and not use the forums to make personal contact, or talk about the blocking.

Noone will get banned for normal forum interactions that are not personal to someone blocked.

I have had the experience of posting a general comment, nothing personal, on topic, not rude, crude or abusive but I was reported and got a ban.

You are at the mercy of the blocker who can claim any comment you post on "their" thread is an attempt by you to communicate directly with them.

I now no longer post on threads created by people who I know have blocked me.

As a paid up subscriber it does limit my full use of the site a little bit but I am quite happy not to engage with people who do not wish to engage with me.

My point is simply that forum posts are in fact a form of communication so posting on a thread created by someone who has you blocked is in fact communicating with them.

No matter how innocent the post is the blocker can still take umbrage and report the person for circumventing their block.

Yes it is up to the moderators to decide whether or not to implement a ban but by posting in these circumstances you leave yourself open to sanction.

Keep the forums fun!

As I said above, I'm blocked by numerous people who post in this forum and many more in the lounge.

There are some where I won't comment on any thread they start, not because of sanctions but because they are complete arseholes and I just don't give them the satisfaction of posting on their thread.

At the same time both here and in the lounge there are a number of people who have blocked me but continue to have direct conversations and discussions with me on various threads without any mention of being blocked.

Some of those interactions are very positive so I don't get too bothered about who has blocked me or hung up on how they may react to anything I say.

I've never blocked anyone and am not really sure if I've been blocked. Dont really go back after no reply.

Very conscious of looking like a creep.

It's not really. Lots of men send welcome messages like that to newly arrived women and are blocked straight away so why should it be any different the other way around?

If "unsolicited" first messages, provided they comply with site rules, were a valid reason for getting blocked then no messages would ever be sent.....

The "precious prince and princesses" on here need to be more diligent on how they set up their mail filters to ensure they are not disturbed by unwelcome mail.

True, but there is good mad and bad mad!! I like a little common sense in my madness but thats a bit mad in itself.

It shouldn't be but it kind of is. Its definitely not the norm anyway I'd imagine.

We block very few people. If asked a question about meeting I'll reply, if I'm not meeting guys I'll say. If they message more I'll just delete but if they keep hassling then I'll block. I find that people generally just respect a polite answer.

I would imagine that was the normal etiquette. Sounds very reasonable to me.

Or, if the "precious princes and princesses" (who seem so incensed at being blocked) thought of filters as a broad brush, and the block button as a fine detail brush, perhaps they'd be less offended by it, and would feel less inclined to throw shade at those who are navigating Fab in a way that is manageable for them.

I took revenge and reported his profile. He is gone now.

I don’t hate it when I am blocked for no reason, I just report and get the account suspended

Effort of this. Think you've fairly contradicted yourself in the last sentence - you clearly do hate it if that's the action you take..."

Still am ok with getting blocked but for some really mean and rude people, I do hate it. Also taking one for the team by removing timeswasters

"I had one

I put up a photo recently and a pushy guy decided to message

He was like I wanna fuck this chick and you.

Told him no multiple times and asked to be respectful

He blocked me. I took revenge and reported his profile. He is gone now.

I don’t hate it when I am blocked for no reason, I just report and get the account suspended

Do you report everyone who blocks you?

Obviously if an account is suspended it's not for blocking someone so there are other reasons. "

Nah. Just the really pushy and bad ones. You know people asking for money, other banned substances and surely abusive and racist. Have had plenty if them in the past month.

I'm sorry to break it to you, but an account won't be suspended just because they blocked you "

I know. I am no admin but some of them have been removed.

Not by blocking me.

Of course not but by the sheer nastiness they had in the chat. Admins can see deleted chats as well. I would say I have reported about 5 in the last 2 weeks and all of them are gone.

We have plenty of filters in place. The majority of our blocks are people we would rather not interact with, have a joy for causing drama or people who don't read our profile. Filters are a starting point, blocking is where we refine our fabswingers experience.

Blocking is the best, no updates and its a reminder when scrolling through endless profiles that you werent interested in the first place. #blockon

You had a thread a few months ago about how you had cleared your block list and from memory you said that it made your experience so much better.

Most people on that thread including me said that the exact opposite was true for them and that using the block button was a great way of avoiding drama and people they had no interest in.

I've no doubt that all the people who have blocked me feel exactly the same way and they are using one of the best tools on the site for their own benefit.

For a man who claims that blocking is frivolous and of no benefit I'm curious why you bring up the subject so often?

I have tight mail filters and get very little mail and in all my years here I've probably only had a handful of messages that could be classed as nasty or abusive.

Every one of those were from women and couples as a direct response to me politely turning them down and they were all immediately blocked and still are.

I don't block just for the sake of it and it's probably 2 or 3 years since I last blocked someone but there are fab rules and there are my rules.

Those are more strict than the site rules and I make no apology for blocking lots of "hot" people.

........

Yes I did clear my quite considerable block list as a seasonal gesture at Christmas.

It has made my experience on fab more enjoyable as I dont have a negative list attached to my fab profile.

I can only suppose that those I had blocked have moved on and no longer wish to interact with me or have left the site.

I have since ad to block a small number of people as a result of receiving some inappropriate messages.

I don't believe that I bring up the subject of blocking very often and in the case of this thread I was mearly responding to a thread posted by the OP.

If people didn't reply to threads there would be no forums.

I have no idea how many people have blocked me but I assume they have all done so for their own good reasons, just because I don’t know the reason doesn’t mean there isn’t one.

Doesn’t bother me, I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, just the way it is.
