Smart fortwo.

Had two of them, both barely lasted a year.

Love the car itself, that's why I went for a second one, hate how unreliable it was

Missus

I’ve only owned two 2 cars and the worst of those was a red 1996 Toyota Corolla. Which was far from bad

Mazda.... Jesus what was the model??? Kinda a high up car.

Useless.... Constantly getting notifications from the manufacturer to bring it back in. Very expensive service, all electrics really finicky, any tip and lights and warnings going off.

My first van was old Ford Transit with no power steering and no partition. Had to wear ear plugs to drive it.

Reading about water in passenger footwells, reminded me of my Smart roadster - it had the same issue, as well as passenger window being iffy and not opening the whole way down, cabrio roof only opened and closed when you connected the wires directly to the battery and it did blow its engine at the traffic lights lol (was my absolute favourite car tho and would get another one in a heartbeat if I had spare 6+k and extra £200 a month to pay for insurance alone

Louth, Dub

I bought a new Alfa Romeo 146 1.6 T spark. Within 4-5 hours the car kept cutting out when stopped. Brought it back to the dealer. They couldn't fix it. It then went to Alfa Romeo head office beside the red cow roundabout. They had it for almost a month before I got it back. It was fixed. But they never revealed what the problem was. I suspect the replaced the engine.

The valve timing variator kept failing every 10 months or so. Covered by warranty. Then a van hit the car and it was written off.

Then I bought another Alfa, a 3 year old gtv. Beautiful car. But suffered the same valve timing issue at the 146. So I sold that after 2 years. When German for cars after that.

Although I am tempted by the Gulia 2 liter petrol they seem to be reliable.

Peugeot partner, would feint at the sight of a hill, no amount of tweaks could get it to drive like other partners and Berlingo vans on the road at the time, never any fear of picking up a speeding fine on a motorway with it either

"Nissan xtrail 28 faults in first year. Stay away"

Seems to be a bit of a lottery with the xtrail, an honest nissan/Renault mechanic will tell you 1 in every 3 can be a nightmare with the electronics, been lucky enough to have a few bombproof xtrails over the years, an early T31 had over 400,000 Kms on the clock before I changed it, only problem it ever caused was the need to change the clock spring. It was a great machine.
