Totally fine for people to find the use of that word a turnoff. Many times people don't really understand the dynamic though and think it means something it doesn't. It's usually not worth explaining that though as it triggers such an extreme reaction that they aren't likely to listen even if you do try and explain.

100%. Just slipping into your own kinkmode without prior discussion is always a bad idea. Nobody knows someone else's prior trauma for example so this can be really damaging.
