While I guess we know the punchline, what exactly is the story?

The woman insisted on testing before unprotected sex with her new partner, the guy got a false neg, as he was only infected 2 weeks earlier and he passed the virus on to her.

Medics then thought she had spine cancer and ruled out STIs until she insisted on 2nd test. Medics didn't think she had HIV because she was a straight female.

Finally she was diagnosed with HIV.

Harsh situation considering she took a lot of precautions.

Found it odd that they decided to go for tests on first day they had unprotected sex.

Surely they should have done that previously?

A bit reassuring and heartening all the same how she, and others with treated HIV, can live long lives with no ill effects of developing AIDS. We weren’t fully aware of how effective the treatment was in halting the progression and transmission until seeing the interview last night. Growing up with the TV Ads and stories of ‘80s and ‘90s means the fear and stigma is hard to shake. Great to see the bit of humour even in the interview on the subject, reinforces how things have changed.

Didn't see the show, but yes those living with HIV these days have a normal life expectancy. It was also incredibly unlucky for her to have been invected by someone recently infected. A man with full blown HIV having unprotected sex with a woman has 0.08% chance of passing it to the woman.

Taking their meds properly can reduce the viral load on an infected persons system to the point where it's not transmissable to anyone else at all.

That's why testing is so important, because if you KNOW you're carrying the virus then you can have a totally normal life and expect to reduce your viral load to the point that you have a 0% chance of passing it to anyone else. Walking around with the virus unaware and you're risking your own life and those of your future partners.

She was having unprotected sex, in Australia, with a guy from a country she wouldn't disclose, shortly after meeting him. She said she was unfortunate and she was but she was also careless.

Why do you think she was careless? Because she was in Australia?

They didn’t and she actually spoke about testing regularly for safety, you clearly weren’t listening.

Both had been tested, prior to stopping using condoms. Her 6 weeks before and him 2 months before they meet. Both tested negative.

They donated blood the day they first had unprotected sex.

4 days later he got a phone call as the blood screening showed a positive HIV result.

Her blood screening was negative.

"She was having unprotected sex, in Australia, with a guy from a country she wouldn't disclose, shortly after meeting him. She said she was unfortunate and she was but she was also careless."

She insisted on testing before having sex with a new partner, as a standard practice.

She asked about his sexual health and he confirmed a clean bill of health.

They made the decision regarding not using condoms together.

Not disclosing the country he is from has nothing to do with her health, she is right to say his story is his story and not to share any of his personal information on national television or any other platform.

Since your judgment comes across so harshly how was she careless?

She got HIV. It's not rocket science to conclude she was careless. Condoms, condoms, condoms!

Sex without a condom after both having recent negative results isn't careless. It's a very unlucky and unlikely set of circumstances as 99.9% of people taking these precautions could be absolutely fine.

They tested first and were clear. They had unprotected sex, takes two to tango, why just bash her?

Please note that safe sex isn't listed on your profile hence she did more precautions then you seem too.

Who's bashing her? I'm not bashing anyone. I'm merely responding to the assertion that she took a lot of precautions. She clearly didn't take the one obvious precaution did she!

And as for my profile, I also don't have paragliding listed on it. Do you really think that one particular item isn't specifically mentioned on someone's profile, that means it doesn't apply to them? Do you really think people put that much thought or effort into everything that's on their profile, much less even remember or even care one iota what it is that have in there in the first place? This is a meaningless fuck site, not a CV.

Are you really that silly?

They both tested and got negative results and as a result thought it was OK to have sex without a condom, so yes, she/they took precautions and nevertheless she got infected. That's the point.

paragliding isn't an option

But safe sex is just a tick away on profile, just ticking a box to much effort?

People do put effort into their profiles, that's why unlike you we get verified more than 2 years ago by 2 separate people. If you put some effort into profile then maybe you would have more luck.

She took precautions they got tested and were clear before stopping using protection

I was sure this thread was dead but boy is it back to life. I guess whatever side your on, a lot of people watching the show will now be more likely to use condoms and that can only be a good thing.

Once again, here you are making assumptions. You just can't help yourself can you.

I've been on this site for years, far longer than this profile. And have met many many people over the years.

You can't engage your brain before typing can you

Not assumptions but if that's what you have to tell yourself.

It's a fact that paragliding isn't an option of interest, a fact that safe sex is a tick box away and it's a fact your last verification is 2 years ago.

If you had profiles before or not wasn't mentioned.

It's also a fact if you are still meeting people they aren't verifying you and haven't in two years, maybe next time ask one of them for an updated verification so you appear somewhat active.

Everything you have implied about me has been an assumption. You assumed I wasn't into safe sex because it's not ticked on my profile, as of anyone puts any thought into that whatsoever.

Youve now made a clear assumption that I haven't been having 'any luck' based off a verification history.

You have absolutely no idea whatsoever of my sexual preferences, my circumstances or meet history, recent or otherwise. You're making assumption after assumption on the flawed thought process that a profile is supposed to be accurate and upto date at all times.

Who told told you this is the case?
